spent an hour up a ladder refitting some roof tiles and pointing , my legs are still shaking that's all |

Today I spent the morning testing .308, .223, and .22 Hornet homebrew at 100 yards on Short Siberia with some mates, had a 'curry' for lunch in the Old Sergeant's Mess, then had a glorious sunny afternoon at 600 on Century. Met 3 French guys who come over from Paris every couple of months.
Fantastic day with great company, it's just a shame we were the only ones there in the afternoon! The French guys put a lot of UK shooters to shame. |

Today.... i found a GripStick shotgun cartridge picker-uperer in the local farmers supply merchants, i have wanted one for PSG practice since i first used one during a comp a long while back but have refused to pay the prices i have seen them for £45-65 online While waiting for the missus who was faffing about in the cookery section i was bored and looking at the limited shotgun supplies section... i found it in the reduced section with 50% off (!) and was originally priced at £41 so snapped it up for £20... bargain Much less hassle for me on range now Could have used it at Shield for the match tomorrow if it wasnt that i have to stay at home and do wedding stuff

Not much. It's almost 6AM and I've just finished some callisthenics.
The army have cancelled our booking for Bulford this weekend, so I had no reloading to sort out. There will be 200rnds worth done this week, plus some some test loads. Hopefully the SUSAT won't be too far off the set elevation adjustments with 69gn bullets and their respective MV, etc. Quoted:
The French guys put a lot of UK shooters to shame. How so? I had some contact with French clubs a few years ago, and their equivalent to RFDs, but it would have been nice to see more of the shooters themselves. They run some nice establishments (as far as shops go - I didn't make it to any ranges), but we couldn't find anywhere that dealt with handguns and/or SLRs. Very dedicated to hunting, but typically a very good range of firearms for that purpose. |

I was having a few for the Battle of Cambrai which saw the birth of the Royal Tank Regiment.

A lot of the guys I know moan how far Bisley is, the fact it costs money in fuel to get there and then moan about the cost of ammo so don't actually shoot their rifles much. The guys we met don't have easy access to ranges over 300 metres, so come over here to shoot long range such as F Class. |

You dont realise just what you have, or what you can do...until its gone.
I had a hernia operation last tuesday which went well , if you consider a 4" cut "well" No such luck. Without the wife i would have been well and truly fecked. She,s fed me, moved me around, even had to wipe my arse. Dont ever let anyone tell you its a small, and insignificant op. I,ve never known such pain or discomfort in my life. Thankfully, it WILL get better. It is a sobering thought when you realise you need help, and cant, infact, manage without it. It also makes you appreciate how good life is, when you can just pick up a gun and go shooting for a couple of hours, or nip out for a pint etc. I think we are all guilty at times of saying" bugger it, i cant be arsed " Life is damned good, so are family and friends. Never take them for granted. |

I'm another "raspberry", although I managed to walk a couple of miles across the New Forest yesterday.
My spine is starting to collapse (slowly) onto the nerves, the pain is in my legs and I cannot stand still for more than a couple of minutes, been signed off for a month and if I can get the pain managment to work I hope to go back on a part time basis. Hence the reason I haven't shot CSR since the summer. Getting old is a bugger!
