Q: I’m a nonimmigrant alien who is coming to the United States for two weeks to go hunting. Can I rent a firearm in the United States to use on this trip? What if I want to go to a shooting range one day — can I rent a firearm there as well? As long as you possess a valid hunting license from a State within the United States, you may rent firearms to hunt and to use at a shooting range. If you do not have the hunting license, your possession of the firearms and ammunition will be unlawful. The hunting license does not have to be from the State where you will be possessing the guns and ammunition. [18 U.S.C. 922(a)(5) and (9), 922(g)(5)(B) and 922(y)] So which State (as it can be any) is the cheapest ? |

Doesn't matter what kind you get, the cheapest will do |

| Bought a 1 week combo fish n hunt in Ga for $15 back in April from one of the local sport shops. Actually used it to go bass fishing never got any shooting done that trip. But did find a great gun store where the owner gave me dealer discount on everything I bought :-) |

Are you coming as a non immigrant alien ( us issued work or student visa) or as a visa waiver programme visitor there is a difference.
You should be able to get your license online but some states require hunter education for first issue if this happens call fish and game explain you hunt in the UK and have a FAC at this point they will become confused and say go ahead 
When renting check state law! VA for instance you can not be in possession of a rifle with a 30rd mag or with a folding stock Eg. An M4 is OK with a 20 but not a 30 a para AK is never OK. Would you get caught I thought no but a guy with a SBR he didn't have a stamp for got caught by the ATF at a local range recently
