I am fortunate enough to own a Bradley Arms .22 - it's my favourite gun by some way.
However when I put in for my variation for a LBP, I thougth that I would ask for another .22RF rifle - figuring that: a) It would mean that I could experiment with iron sights/scopes/different red dots and not change my main gun b) The more guns the better The Authorities kindly agreed to this and have granted me another slot on my FAC. Now, I don't want a bolt action and this will essentially be a "just because I can" gun - so I don't want to spend a fortune (more than £1K) on a gun that will realistically always be a second choice. Likewise, I don't see the point in getting another AR clone such as a Spikes etc as (in my opinion, absolutely no offence intended) it will just be a lesser version of what I already have and so will never see the outside of my cabinet. Whilst I would like to get something "black", I would like to avoid anything monkey metal that is likely to fall apart after a couple of hundred rounds. All (non "hilarious") opinions welcome |

SIG 522. Not an AR, not bolt action, black rifle, won't fall apart. Uses same mags as BAR-22 I believe. Certainly the better end of the clones, but they have been known to throw extractors, and assorted parts from the bolt group, as have the S&W..... Really, if you listen to all the owners on the BBS i thought they were bomb proof, cycled every thing flawlessly & shot thumbhole groups @ 50 yards. Andy. |

I gotta Sig and have stood blubbing while poking around in the grass. My fault though, shouldn't have opened the action to clean it with the bolt held back under tension ... BOING and out shot the bolt group, taking a reataining E clip with it. Fixed it in 30 seconds back home with another E-clip. Can't see it ever happening again unless I make the same mistake. |

Still undecided - it currently looks like being a choice between the Sig and a CMMG. Does anyone know if the CMMG takes the same mags as the BAR22?
I don't really like the folding stock on the sig and so by the time I have fitted the adapter and put another stock on, there won't be a lot of difference in price. Has anyone heard or know anything about the LanTac "Raven" (Hilarious Blackadder 2 "wise woman" jokes not included) |

Now Bradders has stopped producing .22's the Raven is supposed to be the best AR you can buy in the UK. Have you thought about getting a S&W MP 15-22, I don't see the point in you getting another AR on a par with the BAR. From your first post it seems to fit the bill, all milspec bling will fit it, the only disadvantage is the BD mag's wont work in it only the mag's designed for the rifle. Andy. |

Quoted: Isn't the S&W all plastic ? Can't swap the lowers around with that.... Yes, but you can change the stock as the moulded into the lower buffer tube is carbine/commercial dimensions. Takes after market grips and there is an adapter to allow standard AR float tubes/handguards to be fitted. Still not worth fannying around with though............... |
