Depends on who's range it is, private or MOD etc... This might help.. |

Most gallery rifle ranges I know are NDA so you may find something here... or here.. If it's a civvy range it's going to be down to the 'in-force' range certificates and insurance..

Does anyone know what the muzzle energy limits are for gallery ranges ??? any links most appriciated Thanks in advance below is an extract from our club. may help On October 6th 1994 the MoD approved the construction of the 30-metre range and issued a Range Safety Certificate, at that time for fullbore pistols. We enjoyed three years of pistol shooting at the range up to the handgun ban in 1997 when use of the range was reclassified by the MoD for the use of pistol calibre firearms. The good news was that we could now use the range up to 50 metres for carbines and pistols from .22 up to .455 calibre. (Providing Muzzle Energy and Muzzle Velocity does not exceed: 1496ft/lbs - 2150ft/sec.) Please note .17 HMR ammunition falls outside these limits. |

From what I understand anyone using 17 HMR would probably have to clean the rifle at least once during the match, probably more. ![]() Why? 17hmr is what we would all love to have but is soooooo powerful we can't have one I've heard that you can vapourise mature bull elephants in the sarangeti from over three miles away. Such is the awesomeness. I've also heard that the Stig has one |
