The grief never ends.....

Got stopped by the rozzers last week for using the mobile while driving.
Holding my hands up to this
No driving license, coz it was in the car when it was stolen
Got a producer and was told to take the crime ref no to the stn with the producer
Told the traffic plod about the whole incident....wasn't interested, only wanted to check the tyres on the van
Also told him that the reason I was using the phone was because the handsfree headset was in the car was stolen....not interested

Plastic plod on counter at stn says crime ref: no no good and I have to phone the issuing dept tomorrow a and give them the ref no and explain the situ.

So...applying for a new license.
The stolen license was the old paper one, this must be replaced with a photo one and to apply for one I need to send in my passport.....which was also nicked with the car.

Alternative is to send in my birth certificate....which is nowhere to be found.
Haven't seen it in years and think it's at my mum's...150 miles away

So....new certificate applied for £23.40
Driving license £20
Replacement passport £77.50
Renewing tracker on the car £600
Loss of car £16,800....still not been paid out
Loss of headset £125
Other missing goods  @ £150
Loss of 2 years NCB ??????
Passport and driving license pics £4
3 pts and fine £60
Loss of 3 days pay £££££

Continuing grief.......priceless

Good, innit?

I find this annoying.

Hire companies can tell in seconds whether you hold a driving licence and what groups etc.

In the Met, up to 2007 anyway, if someone failed to produce driving licence, the process section ( those who send to CPS for prosecution ) simply contacted DVLA and checked. If licence held, the matter was not proceeded with.

If this were me, I would have just said, "report me for the offence of failure to produce". When cautioned, reply "It is physically impossible to produce something which I do not possess due to theft".

IF this went to court, the magistrate would be very critical of the CPS !!

Hate to tell you this, but also factor in the insurance loading you will get for the CU80 motoring conviction, which will stay with you for the next 5 years.

Insurers class these convictions akin to careless driving, so the penalty is more severe than speeding or bald tyres.
