Strikes me as a re-vamped CQT but more functional with that reticle and integral dot for CQB. Pity it's not a 1-4x variable.

Steiner, of binoculars fame, will be bringing out a range of scopes in the next few months, including a 1-4x. Won't be cheap though.

1-4x24 Steiner is listed as $2,199 available Q2 2011...

or get a S&B Short Dot.

Exactly. Since the Short Dot is the best in its class who's going to pay more for another brand.

I think the Short Dots are actually more expensive than the Steiner (SWFA have the Short Dots at $2549) but I agree most people will buy the S&Bs because of their reputation...

Steiner glass is usually good quality but is not up there with the likes of Ziess, Swarovski or Leica whereas S&B is.

Steiner have come a long way in recent years; (I speak as a retailer of top end binos) Ziess products though good have in my estimation have been somewhat lacking, especially in  the combined bino/laser end of the market where the last product I sold, whilst good didn't merit the £2000 price tag.

Leica in the last couple of years have bought their rifle scopes to the UK and I wonder how well they will do up against Swarovski, who in my opinion offer the best after sales service of any optical distributor.
The down factor with Swarovski is that they will not produce scopes with tactical recticules and only want the sporting market.

The UK distributor of Steiner do not have an effective sales staff able to sell rifle products to the gun trade so it's anybodys guess where they will end up.

I wouldn't have an interest in selling these, especially when S&B & Nightforce are out there.

The thing that pisses me off about the UK optics market is that the importers haven't got a clue about the stuff their selling, Minox introduced a monocular the other day with graticules and a built in compass.
I asked the rep what the graticules were scaled in, degrees or Mils, and if Mils were they NATO 6400 Mils ot Russian/Chinese Mils 6000.
They hadn't got a bloody clue and had to email Germany. (rant off )
