Hope this isn't a re-post. I saw this about a year ago and something on telly last night jogged my memory.

Its a masterpiece of Design, Engineering, Electronics and Programming.

The bit when he kicks it is outstanding. Its a pity that its so loud, I guess they are using an onboard genny to supply the juice.

Creepy... That's exactly what I thought. When the guy kicks it, it reacts in such an 'alive' way.....

As one commentator  put... "Rise of the machines".....

the whinning sound is a hydrualic pump used to move the actuators in the legs,
as 4,000 psi is almost instantaneous rather than an electrical actuator which has a long response time.
but i belive theres a small 'moped' sized engine on board to run that and an charge the batteries

cant be exactly sure, but i've seen something very similar

So what does it use, loads of piezo gyros? It seems to know where to put its legs to stabilise itself.

[geek mode on]
cant say for certain, as i say not seen this specific one,
but i'd say from experiance a selection of gps, compasses, Laser gyros, tri-axel accelerometers and pressure sensors
to detect attitude, speed, direction and sudden motion all inputed into a cpu to act and respond and keep the robot within specific parameters

Cool, in that case I'm ok with it 'living'. It so happens that I'm a big fan of tri-axel accelerometers myself
