Well, after one deal fell through due to Developer and valuer falling out over price.  And a mortgage broker trying to get me to commit mortgage fraud but apparently it was ok because " dont worry, everyone does it "..........................I have finally found a new place, got a good price and should be completing on Friday.

Apparently moving house is the most stressful thing to do - and I am doing it 3 times in 18 months !!

Glad I secured a fixed rate just before they started talking of soaring interest rates

You dont get rid of me that easily

Have a little farm over in Ireland - well, called a farm there but compared to UK, its a smallholding !

Abroad will only be at retirement time. Or if I lost FAC / shooting was banned here / some other major problem.

And to be honest, having spent more years in UK than Ireland, I am very settled here.

Yes, its lovely. A tiny farm backing onto a lake. Quaint old shack of a cottage from my Grandfathers era.

But it would soon get boring with zero prospect of employment. Would be great in retirement once money is not so much of an issue.

One could live there and draw dole, grow veg and keep a couple of animals but it would be purely subsistance only. At 42 I am not quite ready for that. Unless I have to.

On the subject of making money - solicitors certainly know how to. Just got the bill for my conveyancing in buying the new place. Bloody ouch
