Got me one of those green laser thingies mentioned in Shooting Sports. Like a normal lazer except the beam is focusable from tight dot to wider beam.

Nice set of mounts too - one for binoculars ( goes on the tripod thread ) one for picatinny rail and one for scope mounting ( which can be zeroed to allign within an inch or so of crosshairs.

Not cheap - cost £5 more than the .22 AND scope onto which it will be used for bunnies and foxes.

Will try it out Saturday night

I have used one(the man I shoot with has one)and I wasn't impressed.To me it's just a very expensive torch,
the problem I found was because it's a laser there is no light leak around the main beam so you have to scan the entire
field for rabbits unlike a lamp or high powered torch. Also it didn't show the rabbits eyes as well as my torch so I was having to
tell my mate of rabbits he had missed.Sorry if this is a bit negative(I know they are not cheap)but I cannot think of any advantage over a
good high lumen torch.

It's meant to be an aid to aiming not illuminating............used with a riflescope they can be used to determine range more accurately and also give you alternative zero distances to your scope.

I think it's the one that's advertised as a night vision alternative?

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's the laser genetics ND 3

I see what you mean now, this can be either, but if you use it as an illumination device you lose the ability to aim with it. I agree, you'd be better off with a good torch and a fixed dot laser if you want alternate zero's to those of your scope...

Thats the huckleberry.

Well, I bought it for its versatility. It comes with 3 mounts - I can use it on .22 BSA, my BAR 15 and possibly on the Hatsan too.

The beam is focusable from small aiming mark in graduations to fairly wide torch beam width. On the shotgun it would be an aiming point. On the rifles it can be used for both purposes.

Have tried it out last night ( no live fire ) and it appears to pick up wildlife with clarity at 50m ( the extent of the back gardens here )

Will report back once I have been to the farm.
