What do I put down for an upper?

An upper,  or maybe barreled action

With the 'Met' I had to have  2 slots;

1. Barrel
2. Action

I had to put spare barrel and action. Two slots

Most people I've sold them to had "barrelled action" but one or two have had two separate slots for the barrel and receiver.

Glad to hear such great consistency between police forces! Anyone know about Hampshire?

I had to get the following for my .22 upper:

1x spare barrel
1x conversion unit

(edit - this is in A&S, not Hants)

consistency would require at leastm common sense or an understanding of your job,

sadly lacking in most licensing units

It's not the fault of the Police Licensing Teams.  The new national firearms computer system has been implemented, and as with all new systems it is up and running but it needs to be updated with all the various technical bits and models of firearms that people ask for.  I think an upper has previoulsy been classed as a barreled action, but I'm not sure if it fits with the new system, and they may need to get one of the pick lists updated.  I had it down as an upper receiver and barrel assembly which caused some confusion at the time.

Patience is a virtue and they will resolve it soon enough.  I think it's an issue that will need to be addressed on a national basis.

For now though, it would make sense to phone them up and ask them what it should be put under.

My .22 upper from Mark is down on my ticket as "a reciever, bolt, and barrel ".

Why don't you just ask them?

After much discussion, Sussex settled for 'barrelled action'.

Following on from this, I'm trying to work out what variation to ask for in relation to the CMMG .22 conversion. In addition to the bolt, however, I'm hoping to get hold of one of the CMMG drop-in actuators. Is this also likely to be a pressure bearing component that will need a seperate slot?

I'll be having a chat with the FEO fairly soon but I was wanted to figure out what I should be asking for...

Just get a whole rifle.

but if you put down a whole rifle you need to buy a whole rifle

all pressure bearing parts need their own slot

I've emailed them, to be fair Hants are quite good at getting back to me... I was under the impression there was a universally accepted wording - silly me

If you'll lend me the money I'd love to, but you'll need to wait a decade or two to get anything back

I guess my question should have been; is the "bolt hold open actuator" detailed at the following link likely to be a 'pressure bearing component' for FAC purposes?

no. pressure related parts are barrels, bolts, actions,  that hold open device is just that. A hold open device, it has the same status as a stock, trigger, handguard....

Good idea tho
