As some of you may know I have been travelling to Richmond, VA quite a bit recently. Well that will stop at the end of May when I get married and my future wife comes to the UK in July, once her teaching contract is up.  She'll be needing a job so if anyone hears of writing/editor jobs in London please let me know.

And don't worry before you say I'll never be allowed out shooting again, it's in the pre-nup that I can shoot as much as I want.

I'll register for wedding gifts at the normal places of course

May the Lord have mercy on my soul and bank balance.

(Oh if you know me on Facebook, please don't mention it there, will post something nearing the time)

I don't think that company offers a wedding gift list service now...might have to choose another. No she does not shoot, has never shot but I will take her to a range in Richmond to at least fire a pistol.

Problem is she would never for all the money in the world get up at 5am and drive to Bisley to stand in the rain and walk through puddles. I would though and I still will.

I wouldn't. If she likes it, you are bringing her back to a place where she can't do it again....................................

Congratulations.

As to introducing the lady to shooting - a double edged sword. Then she will know how much you spend on it !

My good lady noticed the arrival of my PM2. She guessed the value at "about "£200" - now that way of thinking suits me.

Sound advice from Icarus. If she likes pistol shooting, and you bring her over here..............

Why aren't you moving to the land of the free, home of the weird? (and I don't mean Cumbria)

She wont like shooting. She likes fluffy animals, books and hummus. She is coming here as she has less ties to the USA and I want to see my nephew 2yrs and niece 6months grow up a bit more. We'll probably move back to USA in 5-10 yrs, and I'll make sure we go to a state with decent gun laws

Congratulations

However she will have to learn that fluffy animals are food, humus is a fine accompanyment to meat, and books are only good if written by Jezza or war vets.

I wish you both many years of happiness.

Congratulations, enjoy it, the good the bad and the other times. I never regretted getting married and starting a family, it's a learning curve.

Good luck.

You're not asking her to shoot fluffy animals, just bits of paper. My daughter likes fluffy animals and is typically girlie. She was an NSRA Mastershot at 13 and cross  her and she will kick your ass. It would be great really if you got her into shooting, but be prepared for her to be better than you. Ladies have a knack of doing that.

.......anyway, this is Arfcom.....why no pics. yet?

To clear up any confusion my future wife and I are unrelated, so no need for any worry of producing webfooted kids :)

As for being employed, please advise what field she works in. If finance, I might know someone. If any other, I can ask my mate if he knows anyone...?

Thanks Engin. Future wife is an English teacher at the moment for a gifted and talented school doing creative writing so does not really want to work in our shit hole sink schools teaching dumbo's what letters and words are.  She would like something creative, writing or editing.  But to start she would do anything (like all wives will

) for a job to get setup etc in the UK.  She is super smart (well compared to me that's easy), has an MFA so is sure to find something that will pay my bills.
