Thinking of getting a FAC shot Gun. Leaning towards a Benelli M2 as we can't have an M4. What are the options?
Post your Shot Gun Pics here please. |

What are the options?
Well, naturally you'll need your competition licence, (whatever that is), then you will need to decide on some suitably gaily coloured non paramilitary style apparel, (shorts or trousers?, polo shirt or a t shirt with some suitablly non aggressive logo such as 'I luv my Mum'?), as well as deciding whether to opt for for some sandals or other non militaristic footware such as plimsols… Edited for pantalon clarity. |

I,ve got an m2 practical, and its a nice gun. It isn,t however, the logical choice for practical etc. Its got a ported barrel [which does bugger all] but would put you into open class apparently. Its very reliable, but it kicks like a mule....no different to a pump infact. Thats due to it being recoil operated. It will however run far longer without being stripped and cleaned than a gas operated gun will.
Its too much money, new. Good s/h. If i had my choice again, i would maybe lean towards the remmy 11/87 for comfort when shooting...the recoil isn,t as bad, and there seems to be more go faster bits for them. I put 75 slug and around 50 birdshot through it yesterday...and i can tell today. I,m sure some of the guys on here will shout up, who have far more experience with them than me....i,m just a beginner with them. Great fun though....everyone should have one. |
| I have a variation pending for a Sec1 shottie, I'll probably end up with a Rem 11-87 with a pistol grip. A Saiga would be nice but I'm not keen on the look of them with a 24" bbl. A Benelli M2 with pistol grip would be nice but they are a lot of pennies, I could get a Rem 11-87, go faster bits and a case of ammo for the same price. Then again I have learnt the hard way, if I don't get what I want then I only end up buying twice... Decisions decisions |

I bought a Remmington 11-87 Special Purpose Semi Auto a few years back - Bought second hand from Low Mill Ranges with a Mag Extension - 10 rounds capacity. (ÂŁ500 total IIRC) It has never ever failed to cycle..... I've said this before and expected a jam at the next shoot, but so far 100% performance with everything from 24gm birdshot to solid slug. Very happy with it. |

Daddypig, could you tell us what the mag tube is, and what length, also the mag tube support clamp ? i want one for mine, as the std item is sheeeite. That forend is also very nice..... Nordic components, his is a 24" barrel, tho mine is 26" as it's a section 2 conversion (long stoopid story) and ideally you want it to come just past the barrel if you're shooting PSG. I think they're measured in length rather than number of shells as mine as a 2+1 was 3+1 with the shorties. You may also want to consider the larger bolt release as the factory item is pants and way too small, with that one you can just slap the side of it, and also a bigger bolt handle as the factory one is also tiny. |
|
Tube & clamp are Nordic Components. Can't remember the length of tube though. It stops just short of the barrel with the standard cap and goes just past it (as in picture) with the extended cap, which allows an extra shell to squash in.
Forend is standard with some Rainier Arms P-Mag EMG rubber sticky thingymabobs stuck on. Truglo Magnum Gobble Dot irons GG&G big bolt handle.. |
