Quick question for you guys..............Its been a few years since I have owned a ,308 but I seem to recall that when zeroed at 200 yards with 168 grain ammo, the points of impact for 300 and 400 coincided with the first two mildots and 500 at the base of the third mildot.

Have I got this right ? Would save me a lot of turret twisting on 14th Feb - I am now using 155 grain but hopefully not too much difference.

Don't forget barrel length and velocity will affect it. What rifle you using?

Yes, my Unique Alpine - 26" barrel.

According to the manufacturers ( RWS NRA 155 grain stuff ) figures and working from a 200 yard zero it should be 6 clicks for 300, 13 for 400 and 21 for 500 on metric turrets.

The figures are for a 30" target rifle barrel so might have to add a click of so but at least I will be on the target.

You have been watching "Shooter"

As I said, metric turrets. Clicks are 1 cm at 100m

You must have seen my decidedly average groups then ?

Thanks for the tip re 175 grain bullets. Despite what our venerable plumber asserts, I am not too scared to reload. I used to do it quite a bit especially in the old handgun days when I was getting through too much .45acp ammo to buy it at factory prices.

I just find it a bit boring a tedious, thats all. If I find myself with more spare time in the future and need a hobby I might do it. But at the moment, no spare time.

Any factory ammo you care to recommend in 175 ?

Can't give you a definitive answer for that one. I makes my own to exactly the same recipe as M118LR only difference being I use lapua brass. However it is absolutely amazing even at 1000yds in real crappy conditions. The reloading side I find quite relaxing. If you want a copy of the shooting (not shooter) DVD pm me an address and I'll send you one.

As a rough guide with 155gn:

200 - zero
300 - 2.5 moa
400 - 5.6
500 - 9.1
600 - 13.2

should get you on the board

Please don't shoot it if it is not zeroed!
