Hi I am new to the board. First post actually. I have a couple of questions for some of the wiser more informed.
I have an SGC Speedmaster one of the early ones in 223. High mount with a 20" barrel. Now the mount is fixed and I dont have open sights. What I would like to know if it is possible to shoot highpower with this gun with aftermarket sights and could I get after market sight that would work off the rear high mount and a clamp type front mount without any gun smithing? Or am I cheaper just buying another 223 AR type gun and using that. Thanks for your input. |
| You can shoot with a scope if you wish. If you have one of those High Mount DPMS uppers then Iron Sights are probably not the way to go. You would probably be better off with a new upper unless you want to shoot in Match Rifle Class. Post a picture of your rifle to give us a better idea of your set up. |

Seem to have lost me cable for me camera. Will post my gun pics when I get that sorted.
I thought you needed to use iron sights for high power. I have a PSS in 223 with a habicht 6 x 24 target scope as well. Will have to look on the UK highpower sight to see what it says. Am actually looking to buy a long range rifle this coming year once I join another club one of the local ones have a few guys with 338 Lapua Thoughts on calibers are from 338 down to 6mm but want something with a reasonable barrel life. I do like the tube guns along the Tubb 2000, Mak and Elisio types. Anyone fired 6XC Tubbs own round. That man is a machine. I also have a Styer CISM 300m rifle in 7.62 |

There are also 4 T2K rifles. What happened to the 5th one?
The CISM rifle will be a good tool to use in Highpower provided it has a detachable magazine or can be loaded with clips
Just being anal here, if you're sticking exactly to the rules, you may find that the CISM rifle may have a stock that breaks the rules in that it's not supposed to drop something like 3 1/2" below the bore line whereas CISM rifles I believe are made to ISSF standard rifle specs which allow up to 100mm. Not that anyone minds until you start winning with it |

If you get a Tallboy front sight, it should get you up high enough and coupled with a relatively low rear sight you should be in business RPA have apparently stopped making their Tallboy, though HPS have the last remaining few, not that I particularly recommend going down that route, the 'P' in HPS stands for 'profit'. Other than the RPA, Tubb does one and Sinclair does one in 2 different heights, I had the tall one on the T2K when I still owned it, I have the shorter one on my Lawton based rig... |

I am neither wise nor informed..............but welcome to the forum. ![]() Forgot to say: welcome to the forum, not that I've been here long either I've shot Highpower in match rifle class a few times and have been exploring various options, spending a fair amount of money along the way and still haven't quite found what I'm looking for, fun though |

God its all questions.
How do they do with the Tubbs? Are they worth the money? I really like that style of rifle. How would you go about getting one eg Tubb, Mak or Elisio or similar. None of them seem to ship overseas Who can build similar ones in the UK? Sorry for all the questions guys but as I find if U don't ask U don't get. |

If you want one, Creedmoor is the main dealer. I recommend that you contact them for more info, they're pretty good on email and phone. They also have Eliseo stocked rifles a bit cheaper than the Tubb.
When I got mine, there was a long wait for them to get hold of the rifle, at which point they got going with the export permit which took a few more months. I got Fred at the NRA to do mine. Then there's a form to fill in for the value of the rifle, it's a high ticket item. Then it had to be proofed, fortunately I had the throat reamed out beforehand since I was using RG through it for TR, so it survived the proof house, unlike one of the other Tubbs As for the rifle itself, I didn't really get on with the round forend and I found that I couldn't make much use of the adjustability of the butt, I found I left it virtually straight and just moved the butt up and down. Also, it didn't make much of a stalking rifle and there's no way I could convince my wife to use it, her being cack handed it is totally impossible to use. On the plus side, it is by far the slickest bolt action money can buy and uses the Anschutz trigger which is fantastic, The butt is very adjustable and if you have deep pockets (RN-sub If you don't want the bother of importing, you could just go for an AR based match rifle: the last nationals in the UK Match rifle class was won by one, beating a Tubb into second place... |
