Went to Bisley today to see a couple of people and used the opportunity to take my .22 AR along.
It hasn't had much use, so I gave it a run to see what it was like.
Firstly, I had the following ammo. Minimag, CCI Velocitor, CCI Subsonic, Eley HV and also stopped by the NSRA and bought 1000 Lapua Club. This is now marketed by Lapua's sister company, SK and sold under the name .22 Magazine
All ammo types functioned flawlessly and in fact the rifle has now had approx 650 rds thru it without cleaning and zero problems thus far, which makes me very happy
Below are some targets, the first one is 2x5rd groups with Minimag (centre of target) and 1x5rd group of the SK ammo. All shot at 25yds.
The SK definately shoots tighter, although with that said, my eye wasn't at it's best today and I was having trouble picking up the red dot as it's only 2MOA and wasn't showing up well against a bright background. Plus, I have a feeling the batteries on the way out.
The next target is the SK ammo at 50yds.
Again I was having trouble finding the dot, but am pleased anyhow with the performance of the ammo
All ammo types shot well at 25yds, which is where I left the target for most of the session.
The SK is good consistent ammo and it comes in a nice can.
The NSRA sell it for £67/1000, so the price isn't bad.
It's also fairly quiet, especially so when compared to Minimag and only slightly louder than the CCI subs.
Eley HV was the loudest followed by Velocitor and then Minimag.
The SK is oily to the touch, although I wouldn't compare it to the greasy feeling you get from Eley.
I plan to keep shooting the rifle without cleaning and see when any problems arise, but so far so good, and all I've done is apply a little CLP to the rails
