So I paid the council £17.50 to pick up 5 large items to be disposed of - old fridge, freezer, tv, and 2 chairs. All were broken had sat in the back of my garage for 10 years and had been chewed on by mice etc

I put them on the driveway this morning and when I get home they are all gone - job done. Then my neighbour tells me that the pikeys were in the area and took it all just before the council turns up

I think someone is going to be very disappointed when they get it home an plug them in tonight - I'm just hoping they don't bring them back !

So my master plan for getting rid of junk now is to just put it on the driveway and wait for people to nick it

Did same thing with a burnt out electric strimmer last week.... left it on a tenants lawn, 2 hours later... Eh Voila...

ETA:  I filmed the burn out and claimed the cost of the strimmer back on expenses...

We did that when we renovated an office just outside Croydon. They took a load of storage heaters we put outside - I think the bloke thought they were full of metal. He must have been very disappointed...

They were talking about this on LBC today. One guy rang in to say he disconnected his radiator, painted it and put it outside to dry only for the pikeys to come and nab it  Seems you have to be careful what you put outside now.  Hope they don't take my metal gate.

Don't laugh, gates have been disappearing around here.

A local soldier who died last year has even had his brass memorial plaque stolen from his grave, along with other grave furniture.

It's a problem, as soon as the price of scrap goes up the pikeys come out of the woodwork. Scum that they are.
