I got this e-mail for a friend this morning :-

Wow

That was a strange experience!!!

4 minutes to 1 according to my clock here in the office and we have just had an earthquake ooooooooohhhhhhhh - never felt anything like that.  I did hear people say about 15 years ago that we had one in Southport, but I never felt it.  I felt this one!!!  Sitting here at my computer late into the night and my computer chair rocked quite violently, the floor shook (I felt it through my feet) and I have one computer tower stacked on top of another and the top one swayed from side to side enough to rattle everything inside it for about 10 seconds.

Don't know what it was on the scale - probably small, but it was an uncomfortable feeling.

Keith

I thought it was a joke till I logged into ARFCOM

I didnt feel anything here in Liverpool But southport aint that far away !

Felt it down here in Sussex. I was reading a book when the windows started rattling then the bed shock for about 15 seconds. Rather bizarre.

felt it in Lancashire.......woke everybody up apart from 5 month old son, who just farted and rolled over. Even my bro-in-law who is over from California said it was decent rumble....just a lot shorter in duration than he is used to.

I slept right through it. But then, I've slept through a nearby oil refinary blowing up and once fell asleep whilst lying prone, waiting for my target to be patched, so it's hardly surprising.

One of my friends was on the phone at boarding school at the time, and thought it was the girl in the room next door banging on the wall.
