I was working up some sub loads for my first silenced M4 and unfortunately got a chamber detonation. The mag blew BIG time, exiting the mag well sending the spring, floorplate and follower bouncing around the range. It took me an hour or so to get the rifle apart, the only other damage being a bent extractor. I now have the only .223 belted magnum case in existance![]() .

I hope it's not me, imagine if your hand was nearer or under the mag when it let go I noticed he smacked the forward assist a couple of times, was this the cause ? Did the rifle fire without the bolt being seated properly ? Steve |
Edited, make that 3 people I know

| I'm a newbie where rifle shooting is concerned. I've shot pistols and shotguns for years though. Safety glasses are compulsory when shooting pistols/shotguns, but I've noticed not many rifle shooters wear them. After watching this rifle let go, I'll be wearing my Oakley M frames when I'm behind my rifle. |
You may find that when you get your 'head down on the stock' to look through the irons/scope, the frame of your glasses gets in the way of your field of view. If so, I recommend Ranger XL glasses (by Randolph engineering). 50k psi and eyes don't mix. |
