I'm looking at putting a Spares/Range box together for my AR's, I've got a spares kit from Midway UK & would like to add a spare Bolt etc, is this legal as it would seem to me it is a pressure bearing part?

No, you need authority

BTW, when are you ever going to need a spare bolt?

If you had a true bolt gun, would you have a spare bolt for that?

Might need one for my Decade MG4A5, just wondering what I could put in my box of tricks, I'm bored & wasting money online.

If you really want a spare bolt, and think you can justify it, then you could get a variation on your FAC for it.

But yes it is a pressure bearing part, so it is licensed, and it possible also needs to be proofed?

Just ask the Firearms Licensing Dept of your Force and WAIT for the variation.

I changed out one of mine, on my PR rifle, at around 8K rounds, and even then it was honestly 'cosmetic'.
It was due to some deep gas erosion around the firing pin hole. (damn blown primers )

Rifle still worked fine.
Done more as a comfort thing as it was my main comp gun at the time.

This was a back pre 2000, now there are that many suppliers of AR's that I would doubt you need to do a variation, the gas erosion is a 'slow time RFD bolt swap' and modern quality MPI / proof inspected bolts just don't rapidly fail in our UK versions.

ETA

Over the years the variation for the bolt and carrier grew to include an upper and a barrel too! If you use the guns there should be no problem getting the authority.

If you apply go for a Bolt and Carrier.
Makes a change, not that it will happen, easier.
From experience the rifle zero goes when you swap, so forget any quick changes during a match!

If you're going tohave to get a variation, why not just get a spare rifle?
That would be a good spares box for you.

Look mate, you just don't get it

What I'm getting at is after I've fleeced built Bodie the carbine of his dreams (for an extortionate sum of money), I'll be able to afford to do whatever I want, whereever I want, whenever I want, with whoever I want.

As for all the top totty....well I'll be a veritable fanny magnet with my new found wealth and will probably have to beat all the wimminz off with a stick
