It's not just AR's you know......there's other guns too, and I especially like working on Remington's.

This one is a bit different.
Originally, it was a .223 PSS that had been converted to take AR15 mags, with a HS precision stock that was adjustable for length of pull and comb height and Anschutz accessory rail, but it only had a 1:9" barrel, and was a bit too unweildy for it's intended role, PR.
Especially as the owner already has a couple of AR's.

We got to talking about what we could do to breathe some life into it and initially thought about Grendelizing it, but discounted that as I've been trying to get a Grendel reamer from Alexander Arms for over a year now and besides, the Grendel's have been, how can we say this.........disappointing.

Anyhow, it also seems that there are some like minded people in the US who've come to the same conclusions, ie, the 123gn 6.5mm bullets are too big for the Grendel's case capacity, and 6mm would've been a better bet in the first place.
Robert Whitley thought so too and set about designing a reamer for said cartridge and named it 6mm AR.
This is a Grendel necked down to 6mm.

This will hopefully drive a 107gn bullet with a BC of .527 or so to 2750-2850 fps with good accuracy.

He agreed to sell us the reamer (no-one else has been able to get hold of one ), and this is the first rifle.

The rifle pictured has had all the threads and faces squared and trued, fitted with a Shilen recoil lug and a Gary Schneider 1:8, 25" stainless barrel and a David Tubb muzzle brake and spirit level.
The original bolt was replaced with a Dave Kiff one from Pacific Tool and Gauge.
These are made to order and are sized to fit individual receivers. This one is PPC bolt faced with a sako extractor, Speedlock firing pin, extended bolt handle and is spiral fluted.
The original bolt and barrel aren't wasted though as these are now interchangeable and the rifle can be switched between calibres if the owner chooses to do so, with the use of a barrel wrench.

Should be a good'un.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share it as it's a bit different

OK, OK. Primary extraction then ('cos my Remington's bolt lift is pants compared to a Tikka)
