Is this really a silencer for a tank ?

Or is it something completly different

I've never seen anything like this before.

It sure doesn't look portable..... Could be for testing ammunition / ballistics?

You serious ?

They had to develop that giant thing just so soldiers didnt get sore ears

Might aswell fit a silencer to all weapons then ( i know i'm joking, but in this day and age, it could happen )

Just a guess but is it an ultra-high speed camera for ballistic observation/research? I have never seen one but they do exist with a capability of making tens of thousands of exposures/second, to do so they use high speed rotating mirrors and miles of film: is that what's in the round structures at each side?

I'm pretty sure it's on a test range somewhere in Germany - more for the benefit of the people round the range than the soldiers...
