Question for anyone who has shot the McQueen at Bisley. The written briefing says you get up to 10 sighters. How much in advance of your time slot do you have to turn up to take them?

Never Don't remember having had sighters on the McQueens myself...... The idea is you turn up, gun in hand and fire 10 aimed shots at a Huns head (backed) Fig 14......  Will look out the COF from the bible if you give me a sec

ETA:  Oooops, my mistake, two sighters and ten to count, I do remember turning up and not having sighters, shot my Remmy on that occasion so that must have been The PR Nationals in 2004??..... Remember there was a lot of shouting from some little chap....

ETA:  There are 6 versions of the McQueens that I can see in the bible.....

You get upto 10 sighters at the Phoenix meeting you take them when you turn up at your alloted time to shoot, you dont have to take all ten but you need to let them know when you have finished your sighters ie after 6 then you shoot for score.

Well the practice details they sent me says I get them, so I want them, particularly as I don't have a 200 yard setting!

The trouble with the 10 sighters is it eats into the time, but I think it's there to help encourage new blood, so nothing wrong with it.

My destructions say 'positioned to the left of the competition castles is a sighting in target'. I assumed this was a sighting in range you could use before shooting the comp. Hence my original query.

I'll try not to spill any new blood but I can't promise anything...............................................damn, closed the wrong eye again!

The lane next to the castle has a PCFig14 on a witness screen, that is used for your 'up to' 10 sighting shots.

And some match directors will issue a COF that has the McQueens with only 2 sighters or none at all. Mainly done for time saving purposes, or at the whim of the organiser. Go with the COF for the match you are shooting.
