Been able to get out a couple of times this year for some hunting on the Rio Grande.  Anyone else getting out?  Birds have been pretty good.  Went this morning in the thick fog.  It rained Green Wing Teal all morning.

And a couple from a few weeks ago.

The last pic reminds me how beautiful New Mexico can be.  Storm was rolling in and sun was just able to shine under the clouds.  No modification done to the pic at all.  Exactly as it looked.

Nice pics!
I have had a great year up north. The bird populations seem to be up this year

neat pics! Looks beautiful out there.

I moved to valencia county a couple years ago and keep meaning to try my hand at duck hunting, its about a 15 minute walk to the river from my house.  I hear the shotguns every morning/evening, but I haven't been able to get myself to go out in the freezing cold and do it.  If I had a dog that wasn't terrified of gunshots that would fetch it would also be helpful.

around here I do see a lot more sandhill cranes and snow geese than actual ducks though....

Be sure to put in for the sandhill hunts next year. They are delicious!

South of Isleta I noticed that the water level had finally dropped in the last couple days, its been high for so long now that it has made it hard to find a spot to hunt. The only places to set out a spread had been where the water had come out of the natural channel and flooded the adjoining flats. The main channel has been to high flow and too deep to be safe.
