Hello NMHTF,
Now that Herman Cain has dropped out of the Presidential Race, I think I am interested in Gary Johnson,, but I have a few questions only you guys can answer: 1) How was he as a Governor? 2) What is his 2A stance? Thanks! |

We had a surplus and he is very much in favor of personal rights. I do not know that makes him 2A material. http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/record Snip from recent news. " His statement came in response to a National Review article that complimented Johnson on his record as governor, saying that when compared to the other governors running for president, the rate of job growth was highest under his watch. "Don’t get me wrong,” Johnson said in a statement. "We are proud of this distinction. We had a 11.6 percent job growth that occurred during our two terms in office. But the headlines that accompanied that report – referring to governors, including me, as ‘job creators’ – were just wrong.” "The fact is, I can unequivocally say that I did not create a single job while I was governor,” Johnson added. Instead, "we kept government in check, the budget balanced, and the path to growth clear of unnecessary regulatory obstacles.” http://dailycaller.com/2011/06/23/gary-johnson-i-didnt-create-a-single-job/ |

IIRC Didn't he own a big construction company (Big J???? maybe) before he ran for governor.
I do not know that he even held any other elected office. His desire to legalize marijuana will not be popular with hardcore conservatives, but he should be able to get a lot of the on the fence vote. I think he would be good for small business. Oh, yeah. He also climbed Mt. Everest. |

Gary was a great governor. Vetoed more bills out of our democratic-machine controlled legislature than any other gov in history. Probably more than all previous NM governors COMBINED.
Andy yep, he never held another office other than Governor, for two terms. Gary's no career politician. Can't see what the hardcore conservatives have against legal dope. It's not like prohibition worked. Neither has the War on Drugs. It's just created the same violence Prohibition did, cost us a fortune in treasure to fight, and made some guys in latin America filthy rich. Just because something is bad for you, doesn't mean it should be illegal... i.e. McDonalds, bacon, booze, Rosie Odonnell on TV, and cigarettes. Gary's a pro-freedom guy Not Democrat or Republican, but Freedom. Free to do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. An Adam Smith sort of guy.... -David Edgewood, NM |
