I hope I'm not starting a new tread for no reason, in other words I hope this shouldn't be in the gun pics forum, but I want to keep this thread about weapon lights and pics of weapon lights being used, and also talk to NMHTF people who have used this stuff. Which ones have you guys used, which ones have you messed with, and which ones do you guys recommend. Also, I think price is a consideration. Is there anything under a $100 thats worth a shit? I saw this for $89. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjfxVTBPzXA
I have a rail on the left side of my forearm.
This was the set up I had, this flashlight with a quick disconnect scoop ring
It is 16 LED outback light that put out about 90 lumens
While this flashlight only cost 10 bucks and I had the scoop ring hanging around. This light was great for indoors, but outside was weak, because is a flood light. Also, I couldn't find a remote switch for it. I wanted something with more of a focus in the lens. |
I've been using a Streamlight PolyTac LED for about 2 years now and I have had no problems with it. It can be had for about $40, it has a very good battery life, plenty bright, and is pretty much too simple for anything to go wrong with it. I keep one on my rifle, one in my truck, and one on my war belt. I have it in a Gear Sector mount, which I am also very happy with.

That plus nothing to lie about... I dont have a stake in any claims other than this is my name attached to the review. A past review has pissed of a local dealer here which is silly since he only sells the end product... Anyhow, yes once I run these pretty hard I will give more details but I dont know when. |
| I love the G2's as well. I have one, but they are just not bright enough outside. I feel that anything under 150 lumens is worthless outside, unless its 20 feet in front of you. And if your shooting at something 20 feet in front of you, then you have bigger problems then light at that point. I am torn between the Primary arms and that veriforce light. The PA light uses the 123A batteries which are expensive as hell. And the veriforce light uses triple A batteries, which are much cheaper. And the veriforce light is 10 bucks cheaper I think. So, I may be buying the veriforce light and then I'll have to give a review here. |
|
I don't have one, but don't they sell high lumens output bulbs for the G2s? I think my brother bought a 240 lumens bulb off of ebay for ~$20. He said that the battery life is pretty crappy (only ~30min) but that it is VERY, VERY bright.

They do make drop in's for the G2. By the time I buy a mount, remote switch, and drop in I'll be spending $50-$60 bucks. I figured I might as well buy a light that was intended to be a weapon light. That way I can at least keep the G2 in my chest rig.

An led and click switch will run you around $50 shipped, he gives discounts on multiple purchases. The 123a batts last around an hour with intermittant use. But, they get hot really fast, which tells me they aren't real q5's, but a chinese knockoff. The best source for 123a batts is Brightflashlights, check him out in the Industry forum. I have one on a CAR-15 which is my favorite coyote gun. You can see there eyes out to 100 yards. I prefer night vision over the light, tho. |

Night vision. I wish I could pay for even the cheap stuff. Ya, I've seen the LED drop in's on ebay, But, your right, anything that comes from hong kong is crap on there. It's getting bad, you can't count on anything to be authentic. That's why I figured I'd buy the veriforce or the PA UWL for $70-$80 bucks and was made to be a weapons light. That way I could keep the G2 in my chest rig.

| SsevenN, Where ya been man? Your LED lenser counts, I had a cheap little outback light that I bought for 10 bucks at CVS pharmacy on mine. It worked great inside, but outside was weak. So, I got rid of it and was asking what people here were using. Frii turned me on to the Primary Arms Ultimate Weapon Light. That thing looks pretty cool. |

Been busy at work and home lately, not so much free time to peruse arfcom. Eventually I'd like to mount a high lumens light to my STG, but at the moment I'm going to stick with handhelds. ![]() |

Ya, I hear that buddy. I've got a wife and 3 kids myself. And never enough time in the day. I hear ya about the light as well. I think I'm gonna buy the UWL for primary arms. Thats a maybe. I've been checkin out your videos on youtube. Way cool dude. I've always just sat or knelled to shoot. But I guess reality would be different. I am going to start shooting like that. I hope to be as fast as you. Quoted:

Veriforce weapon light .VS. Primary Arms Ultimate Weapons Light (UWL)
The only reason I'm using these 2 lights are price. They are dedicated weapons lights, although they can be used in hand. I'm not saying they are even close to a surefire or streamlight. I can't afford a surefire or streamlight. I don't think they are reasonable priced for the average person. Currently my life does not depend on my weapon light, so I think spending $80-$90 bucks on a weaponlight is reasonable. Both lights come with a coiled remote switch, and click on/off end cap. 1st off is the most important category, how bright is the light? Brett with PA really took care of me when the first package was lost. That package later showed up and I had Brett charge me for it. He ended up giving me a huge discount for my troubles. I will buy PA anytime just for this reason. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I placed my first order with PA on Monday (Nikon M-223 1-4x scope). I had a specific question for them and had a return email from Marshall within a couple hours of placing the order. I also got a tracking number the next day. Great customer service from Marshall (the owner) in my opinion!!

The pics really suck honestly. I even used my "good" camera. |

If you think about it, your trying to get a picture of a narrow beam of light in pitch black. Not bad pictures bro, bad conditions! Edit: your pictures actually tell a story my friend. Quoted:

I've read on the PA forum that the surefire LED heads won't fit on the PA UWL. I can't remember the exact name and numbers of the LED replacement head from surefire.
Edit: The surefire M951 LED replacement head. That's the one. Sorry, I should have looked that up before I posted up. Quoted:
Frii, you could probably convert that Surefire forend light to a much brighter and efficient LED. I've converted all of my SFs that I could. |

Ah, that Bill Murray! Hollywood royalty! He had this idea when I was a baby. I plan on taking some pics of different lights and how they do compared to this 500 lumen kobalt light. I have a surefire G2, a 16 LED outback, a Black & Decker rechargeable spot light rated at 150 lumens. I will compare all 3 against the Kobalt. I can tell you now that this kobalt light is very close to 500 lumens. It blows away all these lights, even in low mode. I think I'm gonna put it in a Viking Tactics light mount. Quoted:
