If you take stuff to shoot at, please do NOT take glass!!!
The cows can step on it and end up lame, forcing the owner to put the cow down. I was just out there today and someone brought a shitload of bottles to shoot at. Glass is everywhere, especially towards the East, where the cows tend to hang. It's bad enough that people take and dump their trash, but to break glass for the cows to step on is really low. Please spread the word to NOT take glass to shoot at!! Please pack out what you bring in. Thanks!!! |

If you clean up after others too, yes even the fuck-tards, you will ensure that you'll be able to continue shooting there in the future. Our shooting club in Flagstaff shot our monthly match, then cleaned up the local cinder-pit. Hauled 6 truckloads of shot up shit to the dump and burned a huge pile of pallets and other crap. Place was very tidy when we left. I alerted the press and we got some big-time kudos in the community of mostly non shooter type people... I always have a cardboard box in the back of the truck just for picking up glass. Its like graffiti: If its already there, it begats more. If it ain't there, people are reluctant to be the first to trash it. At least that's what the psychologists say.... FWIW. H. |

Where exactly are you talking about? I live on the westside - and while I don't shoot around here, I do a lot of running and mnt biking, and there is crap everywhere along the trails. If your area is as bad as where I'm running around (Paseo/Universe Area) I'd be pissed too! |

I don't want to post it here.
A lot of people who read this know where I'm talking about. This property owner is on the verge of kicking everyone out. Next time someone shoots one of his cows, he will. Count on it With all of the dickheads bringing trash and glass, the clock is ticking on access to the property. I was out there again today and loaded my truck with all kinds of trash. If I could get away with burning without BCFD getting called, I would. It's a damn shame too |
| I think I know where you are talking about and yes it looks like a dump site. I go shooting out there and take a pallet and a few paper targets. Now that I know, I'll take some trash out with me. Now I feel bad for leaving the pallet, I usually leave it thinking others would use it. |

How dose Jan 15th work for people? It is a Saturday then afterwards we can go shooting or out to eat someplace.
I will be able to get this day off with no issues. MAHA ETA: I called the Waste Management people. I have a message with the directors assistant to see what our options are as far as cost goes. So we will see what they say. |

Where is this area you guys are talking about? I live on the west side of Albuquerque, but I wasn't aware of anywhere to go shooting over here aside from the city range.
The open land nearest to me recently grew some big, angry red and white signs, perhaps in response to littering & dumping there (although I never saw any). The land belongs to some bunch called Westco Development Corp. |

I'm in on the 15th. There's a "Montesa Park convenience center" near Zia that we could hit on the way after the trash excavation is complete. Quoted: How dose Jan 15th work for people? Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm a recently-minted Zia member so two guests con come on my key. |

Anyone have access to a backhoe or front end loader?
Any BCFD guys to help with maybe a burn permit (with Land Owners permission, of course). I have access to some hay that I can bring the cows......or whisky for the owner......to kinda say thanks for letting us use the property. |

Quoted: Is this still on for the 15th? I'm scheduled to work that weekend, but am sure I can get it off with this much notice. btw...you don't need to post it here...but where (roughly) is this place? How far from Rio Rancho (let's say from Intel) would it be? +1 for clarification, I'd love to make it- if possible. |

bump... Any more info around this or if we are planning on doing it on the 15th? Good question. Think I'm off that day. One of the posts said there there was a land fill close by. Have a truck we could use to haul some stuff off with. Being from Rio Rancho, I haven't been there yet either. |
| I started sending out IMs to tell people where the area is located. Then realized I was working far too inefficiently by sending out individual IMs. If I have the area correct, it is near Route 66 Casino. If you think you can make it and want more specific directions, I'll give more specific directions. I think I can still do it on the 15th if we can get a group together. |

I am in for the 15th. Allen please IM me with directions. Where is a good place to meet? Who has a truck that we can haul junk in? If you are in for the 15th post up. MAHA We can probably just meet out there. Or we can meet at the I-40/Central exit and then all drive out to the shooting area. As for where to take the crap, I had originally thought we might go to the convenience center near 98th St and Central. Could be a couple of problems with that. No trailers are allowed at that center, which would limit us to just trucks. There is also a limit of 5 tires per drop off, and I assume there could be a lot more than that to be picked up. The only way we can go to the Cerro Colorado Landfill would be if we would not qualify to drop off at one of the other convenience centers. The easiest way to do this would be to have more than 5 tires. I called the landfill and they indicated if we have more than 5 tires per vehicle, they will let us dump off at the landfill. We would not need written authorization, and could just show up. The costs at the landfill are by weight. Basically it runs from between $7.50 for the first 500 pounds and goes up to about $30.00 per ton. I guess it just depends on how many people and trucks we have. I have an F-150 and can probably get a 15 ft trailer, with no sides with a small ATV trailer. If no one else has a truck, I can just take all the stuff to a different convenience center. |
| So the convenience center near 98th St and Central is part of the landfill? Sorry, don't know anything about the dumps, in Albuq. My truck is old and can only go about 55mph. It can haul a good bit though. Can't cruise down the highway at 75, so secondary roads are needed. |

Is there really any interest in this? if not i can find beter things to do. I plan on being there the 15th. However, I also plan on running into some problems. There is a ton of shit out there. It won't take more than 20 minutes to fill my truck up. It will take a lot longer than that to run to the dump to drop it off and come back. Even if I can get 3 or 4 trips in, it won't make a dent in the amount of crap out there. And I wouldn't plan on doing any shooting while out there. Depending on how the landowner is currently feeling about it, you can expect to be approached by someone and asked to leave. Which I guess is part of the whole reason we are going to do it. To get the landowner to give us written authorization to use the property. Which I know he has/will give, if we approach him properly. It's not like it is some super special place. Just an arroyo with easy access to the highway. (But I guess those are getting harder to come by each year) |
