Recently was in the market for an inexpensive compact pistol in 40 S&W. Went to Gunn's Guns here in Hobbs. The lady there had some, but nothing in my price range. She had a pretty good selection of higher end stuff, but I dodn't want to pay $600.00 for a Kahr, which was the least expensive thing she had.
Went to Desert Guns and looked at a CZ for $700.00, and a Taurus PT140 for $500.00. Knew that was high for the Taurus. Checked online, and found the same PT140 at Courtesy Pawn for $385.00. Neither dealer in Hobbs would budge on price, nor seemed interested in special ordering anything. So where do you think I spent my money? Not Hobbs for certain. The guys at Courtesy pawn were very nice, and even held the gun for me until the weekend when I could get over there. If I ever win the lottery I am going to open a gun shop in Hobbs with non-rape prices, friendly service, and an indoor range. |

My job has me all over New Mexico, Southern Colorado and Hell Paso, Texass.
I have been in every gun store, pawn shop and Wallyworld in the area. I can verify that every gun store and pawn shop in this area have 'crack smoking' prices. Trust me, if there was deal in your town or any other, I've already taken full advantage of it. But, to be honest, I haven't seen very many in the years I've been working this job. I am notorious for raping the Wallyworld of any 9mm, 45acp, .223 ammo. When Al Gore invented the innanet, he created another base of capitalism. I haven't bought a gun at 'crack smoking' prices since. Get on Gunbroker, Auctionarms and peruse gunsites like this. You will eventually find what you want at a price you are willing to pay. |

I think a thread sharing experiences with businesses in the state would beneficial to all. It would alert us to the people that want to do business versus the places that want to gouge you.
Ammo in Hobbs Wally World? Very slim pickings. They just don't keep a good stock. |

At lower prices, you would drive the competition out of business. Then, you could set higher prices. |

It's nice when you know the store or sporting goods managers on a first name basis. |

I will contact Site Staff to explore the idea further. Let us know. Also why keep it gun related? If you got good or bad experiences with any business, then let the news out. |

But, don't ask me about that tire dealer in NW NM.
