I'm moving back to ABQ in a couple days, myself.  I've been away for a while, but I can think of some places.  Charlie's on Candelaria (I think) East of Wyoming and Ron Petertson's on Central come to mind.  There's also a Gart's Sports, but I am not sure how much gun stuff they handle.  I don't remember the name, but there's a small gun shop on Menaul just West of Wyoming and the guy there has been very friendly to me.  Caliber's is an indoor range and shop on Paseo del Norte just East of I-25.  Oh, there's REI right off of I-25, but they are NOT a gunstore, just outdoor stuff.

A couple of my old haunts have closed down since the late 90's.

Reading the bumper stickers on the cars at REI is always a hoot.  I hate hippies.

Anyone else have good info?

Sportsmen's warehouse, Precision arms, Shooters den, Charlies sporting goods, Ron peterson's,  multiple kitchen FFL's that're friend and will help out.  If you want e-mail me and I'll give you my number.  I'll give you the run down of stores, ranges and BLM areas to shoot.

Rio Rancho has August Arms, lots of Class 3 goodies, but very expensive.
Los Ranchos is on 4th Street, not far from RR.  Specializes in hunting arms, and quite a bit of used toys.
Ron Petersons is on Central, quite a selection of new and used toys, reloading, ammo and such.
Calibers is on Paseo and I-25, an indoor range with some very high prices on stuff.
Shooters Den on San Mateo, carries quite a selection of new and used stuff.
Charlie's on Menaul, biggest store in town, carries any and everything you need for outdoors, ie, guns, ammo, everything fishing, and has best gunsmith in town (IMO).
Precision Arms on Menaul, very small, not much inventory, and very pricey.
Sportsmans Warehouse in Rennaisance area.  Big-box sporting goods with some decent prices on specialty ammo and camping/fishing gear.
Best deal in town for guns are the kitchen table FFLs.  The guy I use only charges $20 for an xfer, and is a great guy to deal with.

There used to be several other gunstores here in town, but for one reason or another, they closed down.  Quartermaster Sales used to be my favorite place, but they went the way of the Dodo-bird.

Maybe we should tack this since it gets asked evry month?

No flame intended, it just seems to be a topic that surfaces regularly.

id stay away from charlies. I have always had bad experiences from them in the past. Always seem to be very rude. Perhaps i have always caught them on a bad day.

And they want something like $50 plus for transfer services
