You ready? First time in my life I am ready. I have food, generator, back-up heating sources, fuel, chainsaws sharpened, 4x4 trucks and UTVs. Just bought an enclosed cab yesterday for the UTV, pics later after install. Let it snow...... or whatever it is going to do. It will probably be 75 degrees by noon since I am ready

I came here to start this thread. Always late to the party. ![]() I'm ready for the most part. In for updates from everybody. ETA. The temp has dropped quite a bit from when I got to work at 0330. Hopefully, it'll keep dropping before the precip gets here and it'll be mostly snow. |
|
Every year I get my backup generator ready. I have to clean the fuel system every year or the stupid thing won't start. Stupid me I haven't taken it out of storage yet so won't do me any good. I do have a gas range so can cook and have backup gas heaters in case. I have flashlights and candles. Backup water but usually not worried about water.
One of these days I'm gonna get a bigger backup unit and hook it up to natural gas and tie it in to the panel. Gas heat and range so don't need such a huge wattage one. Don't care about AC during ice storm. In any case busy today cleaning two deer shot Sunday. |

Ever since I had a generator put in, the lights have never even flickered. Oh well, at least I'm prepared. |

Shit I forgot it was gonna snow. Milk and bread--STAT! From what I'm hearing....good luck with that. Same here. A co-worker of mine just went to Kroger and informed me that the milk/bread looked like we had an EBT glitch. |

My home is more ready than ever. I'm not home.
Family is good to go though. I left DFW this morning, switching trailers in Stuttgart in a bit, then heading back to DFW. What I expect to happen is to get cleanly into dfw and no one show up tomorrow to unload me. |

We are GTG up here. Backup genny 1.0 is ready, stored a little water and about to put some stew on. We have a fireplace, gas cooktop and gas backup on the HVAC.
As of 1500 local time, it is still above freezing and currently not precipitating in any form. I am currently on the fence about how bad/not bad its going to be at my homestead. Last night I thought it was gonna be a bust. This afternoon.... I can still see it going either way, quickly. |

I saw that thread from awhile back and just wondered. I really liked the thought of having a Browning M2 mounted on top of the house..

Power trucks are staging at the fairgrounds "by the hundreds". What town is that in? I work for a power company in the Texas panhandle and we just got to De Queen for outages. Hopefully the ice is a no show and we came for nothing. Right now it's just cold and raining but still above freezing. |

I'm headed to DFW, it sounds worse than Little Rock |

The sleet has really been coming down in the last hour or so here in Benton. http://www.shooters101.com/images/Bentonweather12-6-13.JPG Same here in LR. I don't mind as long as it comes down in solid chunks that don't stick on tree limbs. |

Y'all stay safe and sound. Hard to figure that the white stuff would come visit y'all in Arkansas, but, who know--must be that "Global Warming" right? Up here in the Snow-Belt, we measure the stuff in feet and don't get too worked up until 'bout 3 or 4 feet of the stuff is flying around. Winter Tip: Never, I repeat, NEVER buy a vehicle from "up North" without first crawling underneath and eyeballing both the brake and fuel lines. These Yankees up here dump tons of road salt and the latest craze is liquid salt brine on the roads to clear 'em. That it does, BUT tears the living crap outta your factory/OEM cheap-assed uncoated steel brake/fuel lines; no fun without brakes nor fuel. I'm tired of replacing mine on my 4wd p/u and have gone to black nylon lines which last forever. If they salt your roads down your way, PLEASE get underneath the rig and squirt the outside of the lines with ATF fluid or a good preserving oil or polymer. Or, you'll wind up like me; just sayin.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/Powerband/TRUCKS%20AND%20STUFF/100_2446.jpg WOW that is nasty! They use 2/3 sand to 1/3 salt mix here in some of the places. |

A little redneck snow skiing: http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af39/clastac/e13b978d-1028-4dcd-b10c-9edcfdd3a278_zpsd631bd2a.jpg "The weather is here....Wish you were great" I need to get my 4wheeler going again! Looks like fun! |
I just took a little spin around the neighborhood (WLR) and roads are covered but not icy slick. Drove around mostly in 2wd. Saw people riding 4-wheelers down Rodney Parham . Kroger on Shackleford had plenty of milk and bread last night.
Sleet is kinda turning to snow now, at least it's not hanging on the tree branches. |

But soon. |
