Who would be interested in getting together at DARC with their long range, precision toys (bolt or gas operated) and doing a practical shoot from 500-1000m's?
Looking at a Saturday type of deal and those that had night vision devices could do a night shoot too. Cost would be around $5 per person to cover quad fuel and targets. Who's interested? You will need approx 120rds for the practical/quasi competition shoot-off during the day. Please bring eye and hearing protection. There's not going to be any instruction, certificates or prizes. Just a fun day of long range shooting with like minded people. Please feel free to bring more ammo. There will probably be some 'open' space in between the shoot off and dinner. I anticipate an open range where you can just shoot but I cannot guarantee it will happen either. So, if you want to take advantage of the 1000yd range and some white space, then bring ammo to shoot. We will start at 1130am in the Qhut with the necessary paperwork. Please be on time. We are only going to shoot rifles. The night shoot is going to be informal and will start with a zero confirmation. So, please use your judgement on the amount of ammo or rifles you bring. If you want to bring your AR for the night shoot, that's fine. As stated earlier, the night shoot will be informal and flexible. I view it as an opportunity for everyone to sort out some of their gear, talk to others and see some of the different things commercially available that your ARFCOM buddies are using. Some basic rules in order to attend, watch and/or participate: -You can not be a convicted felon -Alcohol is not allowed on the property (which includes your vehicle) -Prescription drugs must be in an approved container and have the prescription -No illegal substances or items are allowed -If you appear to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, you will be asked to leave -If you are unsafe, unruly or conduct yourself inappropriately, you will be asked to leave -If you are asked to leave and do not immediately comply, law enforcement will be notified & you will be removed from the property -If you have a Class2 and/or Class3 item, you must have the tax stamp (or photo copy) for each weapon/item in your possession -You must be 18 years old or older with govt issued ID -A U.S. citizen -Follow the directions of all event staff -You must sign the DARC waiver -When transporting a weapon from your vehicle to the firing line or start position the weapon should be completely unloaded with the bolt to the rear -Do not load any weapons with out direction from event staff -No green tip, no black tip, steel core or other types of AP ammunition allowed. We will be shooting lots of steel. -Please bring a caliber less than .50 -Leave the politics at home. This is a fun shoot... -It's $5 per person to watch, shoot or steal oxygen Swap meet? If you want to do this, then someone needs to take point and get it organized etc. Dinner @ DARC? I think it would be great to grill and have a pot luck kind of dinner. If you don't participate by providing food then don't be an ass and expect to eat what the others brought - it's not a handout. Who wants to take point on getting this organized and who will be the grill master? Please IM if you are 100% on attending (16Feb) so I can get a count and resource this shoot appropriately. We will start the shoot-off with a cold bore shot for accuracy. You can bring a bolt gun and a gas gun if you want to shoot both. There will be some running, some climbing and some shooting with long range scoped precision rifles at various sized targets at different distances. Then, once it gets dark we can break out the NVG's and/or FLIR accessories. The only restriction is the caliber needs to be less than .50cal. |

BS - you know you are always welcome at DARC, you just wont be able to shoot cowboy this time.
Tweeder - you might need a sling to make (up/down) into the tower and the helicopter. Shooters - we will put pads out and have a first aid kit handy in case you find the stairs again... Clastac - an informal swap meet is fine Singularity - "what are the odds i could hit 1000m with iron sights and an AR? you got any "broad side of barn" steel targets?" not likely but... LDAguy - lots of steel Stuck - coming to watch is fine but I don't want a bunch of spectators instead of shooters. Panda & M4G - one of you will probably win the wet tshirt contest shoot off.... There will be lots of socializing while you wait on your turn to shoot the set up. I am considering setting up the grille and we could burn some meat before the night shoot? A quasi-potluck dinner thingy. |

It's kind of hard to find ammo right now. M193 isn't exactly a long range precision round.

I am in. Can bring the Rhino to help run to targets and do set up. Also. Since we are all going to be exercising our 2nd Amendment Right, might I suggest everyone (must) be an NRA member to step foot on the property. There are currently some 4.1 million NRA members doing the heavy lifting for some 180 million gun owners. Would also be nice to consider taking up a donation to send the NRA-ILA. |

If I understand correctly, and we are only shooting one at a time in the competition, you are welcome to use my rifle if you want to bring your 308 ammo. Its currently setup for 168gr match projos at 2700 fps. So if you wanted to buy factory, Some Federal GMM 168gr would be really close. |

I thought that was REQUIRED to hunt deer in Arkansas at any range up to 250 yards... What you shoot deer as close as 250! Come on now we all know us great dear hunters on shoot deer at 500 plus yard running a full right to left in a 40 mph cross wind!
