Does Arkansas have a mag capacity for deer hunting?  I can't find anything in the regs.  Am I just overlooking the info?  Want to use my AR this year.

Use a belt fed, suppressed, 10inch barrelled M16 if you want, Just make sure you don't use FMJ ammo.

IOW, no, there is no limit.

If you shoot a white tail in the heart, it'll kill them. I've done it with lesser loads, and had them drop within sight of where I shot them.

I'm a fan of neck shots. But a good vital shoot will do just fine!

So many rounds are so much better than .308.

lol, sure there is: 30-06, 30-30, a couple 6.8s/6.5s, .458 SOCOM, or 5 .223s

I've never shot a deer with a 7mm rem mag that didn't drop deader than hell, right onto it's foot prints.

I took a small buck 2 years ago with a .223 55gr SP Remington factory load.  Shot it through the lungs, ran about 20 feet and dropped. Why?  Because I could.

I generally hunt with a 308 or 30-30 depending on the area.  And I used to hunt with a 300mag, but they are just overkill for AR hunting IMO.

But most here know I am a huge fan of the 308 bolt guns and I tend to shoot them very well!  And that's what I have hunted and killed more whitetail with than anything else.

Although I have been highly contemplating changing my 5.56 SPR over to a 6.5 Grendel.  The ballistics are just freakin' awesome!

Thanks for all the feedback ! I've been useing a Rem 760 pump gun that I rebarreled to 338/06  (yeah overkill but the deer drop where they stand)  for YEARS & just want to try my AR.   I'll be useing Hornady 55 gr GMX or 60 gr Nosler partition which ever shoots better.   Either one will kill deer BUT if I run into a piggy I know that GMX will penatrate better.

                                        COME ON NOVEMBER 10TH!!!

I like my .308 .

and as far as mag capacity, you need to get you one of these:

I'll probably be rolling with a 10.5" 5.56 this year, suppressed of course. Maybe some 70gr TSX or similar loads. That is unless I get my 300BLK uppers done.

Anything stouter than a 30-30 is overkill for 90% of Arkansas hunts and hunters, IMO. We're talking 200 yard max shots on 150lb animals. I know people that use rifles and rounds made for 800 yard sheep hunts or elk/caribou shots across the mountains. Why punish yourself?

I would probably just do muzzle loader or bow if I had a good model of either. And if I wasn't worried about feral dogs or pigs thinking I look tasty.

Think I'll be using a 16" AR with a 75 grain Hornady TAP if the opportunity presents itself.

ETA: and 20-round PMAGs.

I've dropped a few in their tracks with SilverBear 62gr HP's.  Most in the neck, but one snap shot through the lungs/heart did the trick too.

Makes a frickin' mess of the cavity, too...
