Keeping the HTF alive!

I got a CMMG "India" Evolution conversion kit last week.  In stainless steel.  The Evolution is their latest, greatest stuff.  Bolt hold back, Chamber Adapter and working forward assist.  Kit comes with one mag and I ordered one spare for now.   Shoots sweet so far.  I built a new upper using a spare Bushmaster 1:9 twist barrel.   So far just a few little malfunctions but isn't as accurate as I would have hoped.

Also having a little issue with getting the bolt hold back to work.  Looks like this might be an issue with the bolt release being too tight and variances between lower receivers.  Guess the specs on these are not so tight so might require some minor tuning.

It's a .221 bullet rattling down a .224 bore with a twist rate 7" too fast for .22lr..... You thought it'd be accurate?

Actually 22 LR is .222 in diameter.  And although a 223 bullet is .224 in diameter I don't think the barrels are measured that way.  Probably more a function of twist rate and particular barrel geometry instead.  If you go to the rimfire forum you'll see "some" are getting pretty good results with the 223 barrels.  But it's all dependent on ammo/barrel combos among other things.

I might have to try the kit in some different barrels to see if I can see a difference.

Standard twist rate for 22LR is 1:16.

Mine gets acceptable practice accuracy but is not minute of squirrel head at 50 yards by any means.  Still cheaper than a MP-15 22 though.

The kits are convenient and inexpensive, but I went with a dedicated upper. I use mine to practice for 3-gun. I put one of Jeb's suppressors on it and it is close to the same length of my 18" 3gun rifle with a SJC Titan comp.
