Physically fitness. Many people get wrapped up in procuring weapons, ammo, food, water, med supplies, etc. All of which are extremely important within your survival system. All of these things can be done by sitting in front of the computer, doing some research, and hitting the add to cart button. Its not a very involved process. However, if you had to trek/swim a good distance to get to loved ones, team members, or check points; could you do it? Could you carry an injured child, wife, friend to safety? There are a few here that are fitness oriented and understand its importance. To them I say, good job! It takes a dedicated effort and mentality to go lift weights, do sit ups, and run. How many have ever run even a short distance and attempted to put rounds on target? Your gross motor skills deteriorate rather quickly. Lord knows what would happen to them if you found yourself on a two way range. Even if you don't think you will need to have a certain level of fitness in the event of a social catastrophe, do it for your long term health and self-esteem. I dread going to work out, but ALWAYS feel better afterwards.

Well said spikes, I think this is often one of the most overlooked preps. Not to mention it can be done with little or no cost, even so, I pay for a gym membership so I have a place to "go." I've found that in addition to the prepping aspect, it makes life more enjoyable, more energy, virility, and stamina. Also helps you process stress better.
I've been hitting it hard in the last few months and am approaching single digit body fat percentage. Feels good, highly recommend shutting the tv off and getting some excercise. |
| Always helps to have a workout partner. Makes things easier to not let another down. Lately here I've been breaking in my boots by running/jogging 3 miles in my uniform and ruck sack. Please please please don't just lift weights for upper body only. I work out my legs more for the fact that legs and my lower back are the weakest links when carrying a load. |

If I could suggest to workout your core even more so than your upper and lower body. The core holds it all together. |
| Definitely! P90x core workouts are always a part of daily physical training. The problem is these fools I see with huge upper bodies and skinny little drumsticks for legs. Its funny going on a 6-10 mile run and seeing their legs wobbling by the end (if they make it). I'm sure they can do more push ups and pull ups than me. Much rather have the endurance and have the complete body strengthened. |

Mindset has to go with it. A punk bitch is a punk bitch no matter what they weigh or what kinda shape they're in.
Doesn't matter what classes one has been to, who they're friends with, what gear they have, if you don't have the mindset, you'll be a victim. Yesterday, one of our HTF members was the 'victim' of an attempted robbery. He was at work and his employer has a strict no weapons policy. He had his brain, his hands, some training and the right attitude. Outnumbered 2 to 1, he sent them packing so convincingly that the cops had a blood trail to follow. Tomorrow, he's having surgery to fix the hand that he broke. His worst injury. He can hit pretty hard obviously. It didn't put him out of the fight either. Mindset. Its no coincidence that this guy is a stand up guy. If he has something to say to you, he will say it to your face instead of talk shit behind your back. Being a vet may have something to do with that. He plans on posting the full story here later so ill let him out himself. Could take him a bit to type it though ![]() Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I'm working on it. Unfortunately, due to some medical issues, I have to go slowly (low impact) until I get closer to my weight goal. I do have a plan, and I'm following it. I've been feeling better in general since getting serious about getting out of a downward spiral.

Working on it myself. Actually nursing my aching chest, arms, and stomach this morning. I am not flabby, but I have lost a lot of muscle tone in the last few years sitting at this damn desk. Still need to get off my ass and start running again. Need a partner though, running against the clock sucks, I prefer to be chased. |

I was in a helo crash while serving in my beloved Corps. It left my spine all a shambles. If you can get what feels like a rail road spike out of my back, I would be glad to join you in your fitness campaign. So, I will just lay down a base of fire so that the rest of you can maneuver on the enemy. |

Whatever else could be said about the pics, the mask is fucking creepy dude. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Eh? You referring to those 125,000 rds in that there pic? I don't recall mentioning ammo. Looks like an NV mount. Looks like something corey taylor would wear. Scary . Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I have always worked out quite a bit, but now days with 2 kids and way too many hobbies it's difficult to find time and affording a gym membership isn't happening with a stay at home wife. My wife started doing the jillian michaels 30 day shred dvd after the second baby. After a couple weeks she challenged me to try it, I accepted the challenge. As gay as I feel doing it, its a pretty intense 30 minute workout. All you need is dumbells and a DVD player. We started doing Ripped in 30 days not long ago and it's pretty good to. Good mix of cardio and strength training. |

If you can't run a mile in less than 10 minutes, you are worthless and should start doing something about it tomorrow. That's almost a walkin' pace. You would be surprised how many people can't walk a mile. Christy and I got out the other day, walked 2.2 miles. Took 25 minutes. We were both ready for more. Getting in better shape feels good. If you can't run a mile in less than 10 minutes, you are worthless and should start doing something about it tomorrow. Basically. Bonus points if you can shoot and sprint 300m at a time, going prone or kneeling at cover every 10m or so to engage the enemy. |

If you wanna get your body in shape, go take a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. It will amaze you how winded and gassed you get after only a minute or two of grappling, even if you are in shape, run, lift weights etc.
On the other hand, it is an easy way to get hurt too. I have broken a rib and tore a rotator cuff a few months back so im on a break right now, but i HIGHLY suggest you guys that are physically able try it. Don't be upset when you aren't as tough as you thought you were and check your attitude at the door, it supposed to be fun. Also prepare to get your ass choked and twisted up repeatedly for a while. The first time you make somebody tap or pass out you will be hooked. |
