I stopped by gander mountain today just to take a look at some shirts, decided to go to the back and look at the new "Hunting" type ARs. I came across one in a 7MM with a $1,500 tag. Anybody have one?

Funny, I was in Gander today and looked at that same rifle. Wasn't tempted at that price though.

Wish they would sell the .308 uppers separate. I would have to paint it. edit to inquire if the lower is different than .556

308. 243win 7mm-08 223. In five years ever hunter will have this gun.

$1500 is MSRP. Look around on the web and you can find them for $1300 and less.
ETA: 243 would make a great deer rifle for my grand daughter. Might have to break down and do that for Christmas.

What are you trying to say here?  If it's what I think you said 223 is not the same as the other three.  Different receivers required between them.

Uh, no. These rifles can't touch what many of us are capable of building, and many hunters would rather spend 350 on a bolt gun that's just as, if not more, accurate.

^this.

not to mention, if you had that lineup, what does the .308 do that can't be done by either the .243 or the 7mm 08? (or vice versa)

I went the other way and just have the .308 bolt gun to do the job of both those other guns, and the .223 for speed/capicity/handling semi.
As far as "every hunter will have one", nope, they won't. Every medium/large game animal in North America can be taken with a .308 and even some small ones. All at a "reasonable" price for the bolt gun and the ammo etc.

Not to mention in the "big" AR platforms, it gets stupid expensive stupid quick buying guns, uppers, mags, ammo, optics etc etc I had one at one time till I opened the safe one day and looked at my $4k rifle w/8 mos worth of dust on it... I'm not that guy and put it on the EE that day.

I think the AR-10 pattern rifles have more military applications than they do hunting applications.  For most hunting, a bolt gun is the better tool IMO.

That said, I will be hunting this season with one of my AR-10s, but mine isnt a 10 lb nightmare like those things, it is about 7lbs with optic.

That's still more than enough gun. Arkfroader and I have both put whitetail down with 5.56 guns, and done so humanely.

308 is borderline overkill for Arkansas white tail. Anything bigger is definatly overkill, unless you're planning on some multi hundred yard shots. IMO, anyways. And lets face it, 9 out of 10 hunters cant print a group at 100 yards, much less farther away.

This is like the first time I held a Browning BAR in 7mm RM. I wished it had a 20-30 round detachable box magazine.

Could be a boat load of fail. Could be interesting. Anxious to see what kind of mags they use for the 338. Pretty sure the pmags aren't awesome enough to cram in a round that much bigger than 762 NATO

looks like the mag size is WAY off of what it'd take for a 338. Nice renderings, but in the manufacturering biz, you can't sell renderings... show me real steel and aluminum and then show me a couple mag dumps and other functionality tests before you say your rendering is worth $5k.
anyone can draw pretty, and say "I'm gonna..."
