| is there any way to check if your stollen weapon was reported to NCIC? |

It has been my experience that if you make a police report, given you have the appropriate information on hand at the time, the information will be entered. (I can't remember NCIC or ACIC or both) The problem is most operators at the local department don't know enough about firearms to enter the firearms properly. After that, sometimes just a serial number gets a hit if someone runs it through the computer. Then it's up to the officer (if he's savy enough) to determine if he should ignore the hit or not..... example. I found that the operator entering info into the system thought that [u]all /u] shotguns were "870" models. Well that's what (her boss) told me!! It's really a wonder anything gets recovered.
Some advice, take your info, and go to the local PD, and have them run your numbers to make sure..... |
