Anyone know a good M14 smith that is fairly local? I want to put a GI bolt in my Polytech M14. I found a place called the Firing Line in Wyandotte OK that can do it, but the Oklahoma HTF didn't give much advice about him. I'm in NWA and I like to keep my business local when possible.

Is there something special about doing that particular part swap?

Otherwise, putting in a new bolt is not all that hard.

I don't know that much about it except that everyone suggests letting a good gunsmith do it. Maybe you can point me to some resources to do it myself. I'm not afraid to jump in and do it, just don't have the experience.

there is only 1 place in the world I would trust to do that job
fulton armoury
its not a simple job. the person doing it realy needs to know what they are doing.
I have the skill and know how to do it but I still sent mine to clint to have it done properly.
remember its only 2" from your eye

its not as simple as putting in a new bolt.
the locking lugs have to be matched. the bolt needs to be timed so the firing pin lines up with the slot in the receiver and all this has to be achieved while making sure the headspace is correct.
its easy to get 2 or 3 of the 4 but to get all 4 at the same time is HARD
the 4 are
headspace
left locking lug
right locking lug
timing
