| What are the benifits to, or is there a law requiring, a new citizen with a CCL from another state (Fl) to also aquire an Ar. permit before it expires. |

Not sure if there is a law, but here is the benefit, as I saw it. No renewal class. You just pay the fee and it is good for 5 years, and I believe AR now has more states with reciprocity than FL. It also keeps you from waiting for the NICS check when purchasing a firearm. Here is what I did. I moved here and an a Florida Non Resident permit. You have to surrender your permit to get the AR permit. About a year before it expired, I got a New Hampshire non resident permit (its like $20 or less and recognized by AR). I did not like the idea of not having a permit. The day it arrived, I went to the State Police, had my fingerprints done, paid my fee, surrendered my FL permit and submitted my application for transfer. Thirty or so days later, I had my AR permit, good for 5 years. |

I've a friend in Mi. who carries about five different permits and NH is one, I never asked his story on so many permits. Time w/o a permit is a concern for myself also. |

I can get a CHL from FL in the mail but I cant get a CHL here in AR because I am not a US citizen. I am a permanant resident but accordint to the law of AR that means I am not allowed to defend my self or my family who are US citizens. I think that stinks.
what do you think. should I have the right to complain or should I shut up. . |

i know several people of your status with chls. Who told you that it bars you from having one? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile and when they come up for renewal they will most likley be denied read the forms. you have to be a US citizen to have a CHL in Arkansas in the box where they ask for citizenship number I have nothing to put and thats been the problem. I am no longer eligible because the "Bill" was amended in 2007 to read that a person had to be a US citizen to be issued a CCW permit what sucks is I moved to AR and had to wait a year before I could get a CHL and while I waited they changed the law Arkansas does not issue concealed handgun licenses to non-citizens. See Arkansas Code 5-73-309 for details. However, Arkansas recognizes the permits issued by several other states. But they will not be honored for non-citizens, but a couple points in the wording were unclear. Use caution as for my family they are all born us citizens for me to become a US citizen is to costly 6K to be exact and there are other complications because I still own things in AUS that make money so realy its just way too costly I have tried to get my CHL a few times and its always the same problem. I was told to hire a Lawyer and get him/her to get a letter from the Govenor allowing me to have a CHL but there again its going to take money and time. the words "But they will not be honored for non-citizens" realy sucks because if I did get an out of state CHL it would do me no good here. I spend most of my US time in arkansas about 90% |
