No luck yet..... I only seen one last weekend, only seen it for half a second as it went across a shooting lane into a thicket.... It was a nice one though.

I havent took a shot yet this year, but i have seen several bucks.  Mostly smaller from spike to 6pts.

But early last Saturday morning, I saw big daddy (nice, wide 10-12pt from what I could see)!  Had him in my crosshairs at 120yds.  He had his head down moving fast tracking a doe that had just went through.  I couldnt get him to stop for the life of me.  I think I could of slapped him on the nose and he still wouldnt have known it.

I decided to hold off on the shot, I didnt want to get off a bad shot and injure such a nice dear, since he would of been mounted for sure.

A guys that was hunting about 1/4 mile from me took a shot at him, but by that time he was in a dead sprint across a field.  No blood or hair was found after a half hour search, so looks like he skimmed by.

So he is probably still out there, and if he shows his big ass head again, he's mine.

Lockman and I watched one walk across the road maybe 100 yards from us the other day, I had my M4 with me, but it was on a public road, and not in season.I'll get out each of the next two mornings.

Anybody want to take a fellow AR15 member deer hunting? I didn't join my lease this year in Cleveland County and I'm regretting it now..

I shot a doe for some jerky and burger with the AR and a 62 grain Silver bear HP.  She dropped after a 50yd dash with an exploded lung and a nice gaping exit wound. First deer with the AR, just to say I did it and it could be done humanely.

I'm hunting for horns this week with a bigger gun

What was the distance?

Pop got a 12 point this past week end. Head shot @ ~100 yrds with a .243
He has a pretty humorous story to go along with it. His stand was covered up with big does, yearlings and a couple of 4 point bucks. They had been at the stand all afternoon. He started taking pictures of the 4 point just for kicks. He was hving a bit of trouble with his camera and was getting frustrated. He finally got a clear pic of what he thought was the 4 point, but it wasn't. Apperantly while he was messing with the camera, the 12 point ran the 4 point off and was standing in the same spot when pop got his camera working. When he looked at the pic and realized what he was looking at, he nearly dropped the camera reaching for his rifle.
But, he dropped the Buck instead

I hunted with the Bell hunting club, our lease backed up to Watson's Custom Slaughter if you know where that is.

20yds, missed the heart since I had never shot the gun left handed and that was the only shot I had.  I could have followed up with another but decided I didn't want to skin two.

yep, if it was a little hotter I coulda bagged two.

Funny thing is I shot a mag of it today and they all cycled the gun.  Maybe it was a little dry, It had been sitting for a while.  I didn't intend to hunt with it, but I didn't have a chance to get the .270 sighted in.

I went today and the wind was crazy, It was the first time all year I haven't seen deer.
