| I just moved to El Dorado from Texas and need some one to explain how the property tax system works here. I already figured out the income tax system. But need a pretty thorough explanation of what to expect after I buy/build a house. A link to a website that explains it all would be nice if you don't want to type it out. Any help will be much appreciated. |

The short answer is, your gonna pay personal property tax on your house, vehicles, and anything else bigger then a dog. How much you pay will vary from city to city, county to county. Official word from tha Arkansas Dept of Finance Welcome to the state and the home town forum! |

I came here from Texas also. I was very confused, It was too simple up here. If you have to register it, title it, or deed it, you pay personal property tax on it. Most trailers only get registered and tagged one time, and don't need to be renewed every year. At least that is what I was told at the Revenue Office. If you are a disabled veteran %100 or Total and Permanent, you don't pay any property tax. Texas is one of the states you still pay property tax no matter what. I don't have to pay a personal income tax, so I can't tell you anything about it. Welcome to Arkansas, It is the best place I have ever lived. Some things are different here, but over all it is pretty good. You can find most any state .gov information online. Just takes some searching. |
