I have alot of family in Clinton. My dad, aunt and uncle, grandma, and numerous cousins live there. I have heard it took out some buildings, uncle's dentist office, the boat repair shop, and other houses. Not sure if you are familiar with the area but most of my relatives live in Simlock Acres and that is where the damage above supposedly occured. I have not heard much but evidently it took a beaten. My brother was trying to call people that live there or close by to see if he could find out anymore.

Hope your aunt made it through ok!

Hope everybody is alright. It just came through the Jonesboro area. Not much damage around here but it sounds like it got pretty nasty once it moved through.

Mountain View and the Highland/Ash Flat/Cherokee Village area took a major hit. Either had a pretty good sized 'nado move through or just had MASSIVE amounts of straight line winds.

My Aunt is fine she wasnt at home but my Uncle was. He did what he could to not get in the path but pretty much watched their house get destroyed.

The VuDuLounge is outside of Clinton off of Burnt Ridge Road...called the Sheriff's Office today about getting someone out to check the property...haven't heard back yet...anyone have any info about that area? The cabin looks out over where the Little Red River goes into Geers Ferry Lake...I won't be able to get up there til Friday morning...

Cheers,

Lou

Vudu best bet is to wait until Friday I spoke with my cousin earlier and basically words cant describe the destruction that happened. I am sure the Police will have their hands busy.

My dad lives on Greeers Ferry Lake not to far from the recreation area in Choctaw. His place survived with no damage and from what I heard nothing in that area got touched. The old Wal-Mart building, KFC in front of old Wal-Mart building, the houses between the old Wal-Mart and Simlock Acres, the boat factory, my uncle's dentist clinic, my cousin chiropractic clinic, golf course, and golf course club house all got destroyed.

I am not too sure how familiar you are with that area, I grew up in that town until I was 12. What used to be the old Belding building that was down by the waste water treatment plant on the Little Red River turned into a boat repair shop. The boat repair shop, the dental clinic across the street (my uncle's dental clinic), the golf club house (got built between his clinic and my cousin's chiropractic clinic), and my cousin's clinic all got destroyed. Nothing in Simlock Acres (the subdivision down in that area) was touched. I have an Aunt/Uncle and Grandma living in that subdivision and everyone was ok and no damaged sustained. The tornado then went back into town and I am not sure of the damage that occured in town.

When I hear back from my dad or brother, I will post back on what I find out. I hope that everyone's family/friends/relatives are safe and unharmed!

EDIT:
Tweeder, try these as they should be vary close. Looks like his place is on the opposite side of the Little Red River that my dad's is on.

92 degrees 22'40.16" W

These are from Google Earth so they should be pretty close.

Just talked to the wife...The boat factory which her nephew works/runs/part-owns was destroyed in Clinton.  They had one death associated w/ the factory.  The family members that worked w/ him received minor injuries when the factory collapsed on them.  Prayers go out to family of the died employee.

Damn...FrauVuDu talked to one of the neighbors and said the tornado didn't touch down near Burnt Ridge Road. I get off at 0530 tomorrow morning, so after a combat nap I'll head up there...I have a load of beer, schnapps and the fixins for chili...some of the fellas want to dive Saturday so I guess I'll be getting wet...

One of my old amigos is going to be there (at the Lounge)...we're celebrating my announcement to go to Iraq in April (if I pass the PAST test) for Dyncorp...more on that later...

Cheers,

Lou

Good to hear your place made it through the storm. From what I hear, the downtown area (if you can call it that) of Clinton was destroyed pretty bad. I have been listening to the Corey and Jay show out of Little Rock over the net and they took a 18-wheeler loaded with supplies to Clinton this afternoon. Hopefully that can help a lot of the families until more aid makes it their way.

I have not heard anymore from relatives other than they are ok and helping where they can.

VuDuLounge....Unscathed!!!

I drove into Clinton about noon on Friday and DAMN!!! When I turned on to the western end of Burnt Ridge R. I started sweating...Damn!!!! but the closer I got to the Lounge the less evidence of the tornado was apparent...Then once I got to the Lounge, it was just as I had left it, even the wind chimes were still hanging off the porch....loaded up the fridge w/ beer, split and stacked some wood, lit a fire in the fireplace and made a big batch of chili....

Life is good...

FrauVuDu called the Sheriff's Office (Van Buren County) and the Red Cross and offered the Lounge to any family that had their place destroyed but we haven't heard from either...'relief efforts' there were in full swing and it appeared to be well organized...

Cheers,

Lou
