Got a question for all, is there a good AR-15 gunsmith around the Little Rock area?
I have an Colt large hole upper and a small hole lower. For now I use the offset bushing,
red wedge and the O-ring trick but still the upper and lower fit is just not there. Would
like to change out the Colt Upper Receiver for a small hole A3 flat top. Looking for
someone who has the right tools and knows how to change it out without damage and proper
headspace when assembled.

Try John's Gun Shop.  He's out on Arch Street going toward East End, but way before you get out that far.  If you are familiar with the area, he is just past the Willow Springs Rd. turn-off.

His number is 501-888-1151.  He is one of the best gunsmith's around.  I've used him a few times and been referred several times by most of the gunshops around.  If he can't do it (which would surprise me), he'll know someone that can.

Good Luck,

DK

+1 He has done some great work on my 1911 and I recomend him as well. Don't know for sure if he works on AR's though.

Here are some of the other guys I know of besides John:

Roland Beaver - Bald Knob - 501-724-6388
He has an add in the Garand Collectors Ass. for M1 Repairs - former Marine Corps match armorer. Spoke to him reciently and he was very helpful and was very knowlegable. Also said he could do some work on 1911's.

Bob Rodgers - Pistolsmith

Not in Arkansas, but not too far:
Troy Sellers with InRange - AK builder - Does excellent work!

I know all 3 of the gunsmith's at the Marksmanship Training Unit out at Camp Robinson. If ya need help, I can get ahold one one for ya.
As a matter of fact, I know that 2 of them ( one's one leave this week ) spend all day rebuilding 1911 wad guns ( the web of my hand is still sore lol)

Barrels are super easy.  I have done several.  Just get the decent upper vise block and a good barrel wrench and a vise.
