Moving, got family there.
I know of a couple indoor shooting ranges but anyone know of some outdoor ranges out 300-600 yards? I'm mostly a rifle shooter so the indoor ranges don't really interest me. I also hunt, mostly varmints and birds only because getting a deer tag in Nevada is hit and miss.....mostly miss Anything about the area you can tell me would be appreciated. thanks Randy |

I know of Mill Creek Rifle Club outdoor range in the Kansas City area and is nominally in Olathe but it's a private club and hear its hard to get a membership and has a long waiting list That's what I've heard as well. If I knew I was going to be in the area for a while I would try to get a membership there, but I'll only be here for about a year tops. |

Mill Creek is technically in Desoto, KS. It's only about 5 miles from the Lenexa city limits. Any time there is a match scheduled, the gate is open and you are free to come and shoot or watch. The process of becoming a member takes about 4-5 months start to finish and the waiting list is not that bad any more.
We used to live in Lenexa and loved it. City planning, services and layout are held up as examples nationwide. Very safe, great schools. We would still live there if we could. |

If you are interested in membership coming out to the open matches is the best way to get to know people. You will need a reference letter from a member, noone is going to sponsor someone they dont know. |

Mill Creek Rifle Club is in Desoto... about 5mi West of Lenexa.
The 300 yard ranges are always open, but the whole club has to close down to shoot from the 500 yard line. There is no wait list, and it takes 2 months, at most, to get in. Yes, you do need a sponsor from the club to join. I just joined a couple months ago. |
