I know that this has been discussed in the other thread, but now that prairie_dog has set an official date, he has asked that I put together a new thread to discuss questions and particulars. Prairie_Dog has been kind enough to volunteer his family’s land for a shooting retreat for ARFCOM members during first weekend in July. The land is located in the Pine Ridge outside of Crawford, Nebraska abutting Fort Robinson State Park. For those of you who don’t know what this area of Nebraska looks like, please do not mistake us for the flat land of the east. The Pine Ridge is one of the most beautiful parts of the state. Next to the land is Fort Robinson State park with opportunities for hiking, biking and fishing. There is even a nice public golf course in Crawford that takes advantage of the scenery. From talking with P_D, the plan is to open things up on Friday the 6th through the 8th. You are invited to come out anytime. There is plenty of room for camping shooting and general exploring around land. We will be camping out and there is plenty of space for your camping needs. Camper hookups can be found at Ft. Robinson State Park and cabins may still be available if you call now. P_D and I are both in the Scottsbluff area and can work with anyone who needs transport from here to Crawford. I know that SmilingBandit has talked about flying in and we will work with anyone who comes for transport from either BFF or CDR to the site. I plan on provide a meal for a Saturday night meal so I will need to know how many to accommodate. I will also have a grill and Trager smoker on site for cooking and the location. If you are planning on attending please let us know in this thread. If you have any questions ask away and we will do our best to answer. |
I didn't set the date, iwouldntknow did...
As I posted in the other thread there is a "garage" on the property with a full kitchen, laundry, and shower. You will also have access to a propane BBQ grill, Polaris Ranger, 4-wheeler, and satellite tv. I need to find out if the wireless interwebs are up and running yet... Also, for those of you on a tight budget, there is room in the "garage" to sleep 4-6 people EASILY. Just bring your own bedding please. Or a tent. I have been meaning to post some pics of the property for a while now, and I will after my trip up there this weekend. (June 23rd) Also, as SBG said in his post, my land (1000+ acres) borders Fort Robinson State Park and BLM land that equals over 22,000 acres that are free to explore on foot if you like to hike. |

So, guns, ammo, beer, wine(for you, Stutz), food?, targets?, a bottle of Buffalo Trace for me. I love it when a plan comes together. ![]() Some food will be provided, and there are a few places to eat in Crawford. Bring your own targets. Quoted:

I really wanted to go, but SWMBO put the kibosh on it. Teh kid is out of town and she has declared it's "us" time. I tried to convince her we could spend that time getting drunk and killing prairie dogs. No luck. I guess you aren't missing out on anything then. It should have been mentioned earlier, but there are no prairie dogs on this property. I picked this location for the convenience of having a shelter with common amenities so we would have a place to hang out without having to make multiple trips in and out of the nearest town. I'm sorry that everyone got the wrong impression about what I was trying to accomplish with this get together. |

I am still interested and can potentially makke it for at least the first day or two. I will have to play it by ear, but already have lodging at Ft Robinson. The plan as it stands now is that SBG and I will be driving up to the ranch Friday after work. We should get up there around 7:30pm. If you can IM SBG or I a method of getting a hold of you when we get there, it would be helpful. |
