Hey folks.  I have a question about pistol carry in KS.  My wife (no pics) is going there for a family function and wants to take a pistol .   What are your laws regarding public carry without CCW .  For example  in a car in glovebox loaded, it's ok here what about there?  Any info would be appreciated.   Thanks!

I cant speak for individual cities in Kansas as they may have stricter laws but as far as state laws go locked and loaded is fine in the vehicle as long as it is not physically on her person. I prefer front seat to glove box myself just for ease of accessbut thats me.

I thought it has to be in a "case", and I am not sure about the loaded part.   Open carry is legal as far as the state is concerned, but there is no pre emption.  So, cities can ban open carry.

If you are a CCW holder in nevada, your CCW will be recognized. If not KS in general is an open carry state. As long as it is not concealed on your person you are OK. However some cities and counties can restrict the open carry by enacting ordinances or resolutions. Which means the gun has to be "encased" and ammo separate from the gun. CCW permit will override the the local ordnance or resolution. Confused already? If  you have any other concerns let me know.

All open carry means is the bad guy is going to shoot you first.
