Well, sort of.

Nebraska doesn't provide for the recall of one of its US senators.

However, Nebraskans are entirely free to pass resolutions condemning him and his vote for cloture on the Senate health care takeover legislation. Maybe a ballot initiative declaring "Ben Nelson sucks, and we would recall him if we could, but we can't, so here's a law/resolution saying Ben Nelson sucks." Maybe it could be a ballot initiative commemorating, on, say, November 5 or 6, 2012, how badly Ben Nelson sucks for violating his oath of office and selling out his fellow Nebraskans.

Ben "teh Suck" Nelson Day Act of 2010. How about it?

Seriously. I know Nelson is down 30 points or so in the polls, but it would be advantageous to drive the point home and drive his career into the ground. Make a political example of him.

What say ye, Nebraskans?

I am for passing a law to recall any representative in Nebraska. Trust me, we hate what he did as much as anyone. It will be our main objective to have him removed from office.

Sotomayor
Susstein
Health Care
And I don't want to look up everything else he has done.

Fuck Ben Nelson.

For us newer NE residents. What kind of platform did Ben Nelson run on to get elected?

PS: Ben Nelson's son was in the same CCW class as I was.

I would like to see Ben Nelsons voting record next to Ted Kennedy's.   In spite of all Ben's BS talk, I think when it comes down to it he votes with the far left.

Punishing Nelson is deserved. Can't recall him. He obvioslly doesn't care what "we the people" have to say.

The big question is; Who do have as a conservative, to run against him in 2012?

I also think that after this BS Health Care, He may just retire.

Can anybody explain to me the productivity behind bashing Nelson AFTER his last inning vote for public option healthcare??
If you ask me Bush is just as much to blame as Ben.
I hear all the conservative frontmen cry for legislation now that the extremity has prevailed.
Why the fuck didn't they do anything in the past 8 years?
They got the ball rolling on SS and then just stopped , now that's gonna be overhauled by the Libs too.
Shit , everyone from loan officers to hammer swingers saw the BS mortgage practices that were going on , and EVERYONE knew the outcome , then what happened??
Foreclosures and lay-offs.

Let's not forget , Ben was 1 of 60.

Hard for me to believe this wasn't seen coming.

I figured it would be Heinemann, since someone already had a poll with him beating Nelson fairly soundly.

I dont see anything wrong with Gov. Dave but he stated he didnt want the job.

Tom Becca (sp) interviewed him a day or so after Ben voted for this sham and said he didnt want to run.

On that note, a guy can change his mind.

I would like to see Tony Fulton or Mark Christensen run. But then we would lose a couple of standup guys here in the state.

I see Jon Bruning or Tony Fulton taking his spot. We just have to get behind one of them and make it happen. I like Mark Christensen, but feel he is just a little too camera shy at this point, but I agree with his politics 100% and would vote for him if he was running. His shyness would not win over the googly-eyed Clinton-Obama type voters.

Bruning or Fulton I could definitely get behind. (especially Bruning) My biggest beef with Heineman and Christiansen isn't really an important one for the Senate, but their speech patterns and word choice seem informal or at least a bit off for a formal or political environment.

What I find even more disturbing is that there is not a "Nebraska-Gate" scandal investigation that is eating up the national headlines.  Obviously it is the media protecting their "messiah" and his administration, as procuring any massive 'deal' in such a controversial vote which screams 'prostitution politics' would undoubtedly directly point the finger to the blatant corruption which would even allow such a 'deal' as an exchange for a 'clutch' or 'key' vote.  Yes, there is bickering and talk of some sort of investigation, yet it is stifled, muzzled, and kept in a dark corner of obscurity.  This is gross negligence and anti-American behavior on the part of the media.

There was nothing illegal about it , Ben held out and received 45 million in medicaid assistance in the future.
He sells it as procuring the same deal for all the rest of the 49 states later on , we all  know that is bullshit.
As fucked as it seems , this is legislation , way nastier things go on.
I myself , my mind would blow if the media romped on every deal cut for a vote and deemed it some kind of "gate".

The man came from Chicago politics , he has the back door payment down.

What happened with the Shane Osborn domestic violence thing?

Just wandering, did he get voted in just because his last name was Osborn and the football illiterate saw a name they recognized?

Don't know what came of the domestic violence issue, but he got voted in on his "hero" status from screwing up the recon mission off the coast of China.

If I remember correctly, he filed DV charges against the missus too, then about a week later they both dropped the charges.  He basically called her bluff, and she backed down.

She's a real piece of work from what I hear.

True, most people would have their minds blown if the media romped on every deal cut for a vote and deemed it some kind of "gate", and why bother to throw in there how it wasn't illegal?  That doesn't somehow minimize how disgusting and gross it is regardless how many politicians pull this deal making B.S. that inevitably costs the taxpayer, but this isn't just any run-of-the-mill legislation, this is MONUMENTAL!!!

Attempting to minimize this as simply 'business as usual' by saying "way nastier things go down" completely denies the gravity of what is at stake here.  Ben trying to parlay a feigned hesitation into some sort of non-verifiable, or non-guaranteed medicaid deal for Nebraska doesn't make him any less gross for sticking it ultimately to the entire nation!  Whether or not it all somehow comes down to Ben or not, he voted against all Americans and not for a few, and I doubt he'll run for reelection as he undoubtedly will be greatly compensated for his performance.

I've voted for Ben in the past, and I supported his decision which ultimately cost the state a great deal of coin over the proposed Boyd County deal, but this just sickens me!  Yeah, I don't know the whole behind the scenes story, maybe there were unbelievable ultimatums and threats made to coerce him, I have no idea.  I just know his vote (though not the only vote), is a vote against freedom and a vote against the constitution as I have read it no matter how they try to spin this.

Voting him out of office (should he even run), wouldn't somehow 'hold him accountable', but simply going "Meh," is what has gotten us here.

I know that calling them and voicing our opinions gets old and seems like a waste of time, but we must keep doing it.  I call Nelson's office about once a week.  I tell him each time that I support him but do not want him to support the healthcare bill in any way.  Obviously I have a lot of pull.

If we all keep calling and writing it will have an effect.  None of these guys want to be unpopular.  They all have large egos and like to stroke them by thinking that they are doing us favors.  If we put the pressure on them and tell them that they are voting against the principles of Nebraska and it's people we may be able to sway them.  Nelson has felt the pressure.  If not, we wouldn't be seeing all these commercials he's running trying to convince us that his vote was actually good for the state.  Keep the pressure up.

I don't know if Bruning's  the best option for us or not.  I know that he is fairly conservative, but I am afraid that he may be a bit progressive for my tastes.  I would just like the gov't to stay out of my life as much as is possible.  I don't know for sure where he would stand on that.

I’ve supported him in the past because he’s been pretty good on Second Amendment issues but this latest bit of asshattery has completely crossed the line.  He response to my latest email on the healthcare subject was as follows:

“An important part of my decision was the fact that had this bill not been approved with my vote, the alternative for the Senate leadership was to use a procedure called "Budget Reconciliation." This procedure would have enabled passage of a much less conservative bill, requiring only 51 votes in the Senate. I supported this bill for two reasons:  first, because the reconciliation alternative would have included a government-run plan and would not have been as beneficial for Nebraskans; and second, because it will deliver relief from rising health care costs to Nebraska families, workers, rural communities, and employers. This bill takes a market-based approach, offering tax credits for middle-class Americans to help make insurance more affordable; and it improves the delivery of health care for all of us while reducing the deficit. “ Ben Nelson email 29 December 2009

I wrote back and said I knew they probably would have passed it anyway but voting against it as a matter of principle would have made more sense than allowing one’s self to be BOUGHT OFF.  I’ve heard nothing back since then.

Ben has higher asperations than his current position.  Perhaps Ag Sec in a second Obama term or even in this one, if they can find a strong Democrat to compete for his seat.  If that doesn’t pan out it will be interesting how long Nebraskans memories are on this subject.   For me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I’ll never vote for this individual again.

They don't dare put Ben-dover-Nebraska Nelson in a ag secretary seat, they need to keep 60 votes in the Senate, and a replacement Senator would be named by the governor, a Republican. They would lose a seat to the Republicans and lose the super majority they need to cram socialism down our throats.

Bens popularity rose when he backed us out of the nuke dump compact, which nebraska got screwed on. We had county meeting which turned physical, neighbor turning on neighbor, and the whole state did not want it. I applaud Nelson for that. The 56 million it cost the Ne taxpayer was worth not have a nuke dump here. But the current voting record in the senate is horrible, and it is time he is voted out. Good for Nebraska, good for the nation, good for Obama, or good for Ben? The answer is 2 out of 4. You decide.

And Fuck Ben Nelson.
