Here's a couple pics of my 'GI Springfield I bought last year and its final incarnation...  The local smith did all the machine work, lowered and flared the ejection port, installed novak lo-mount sights and beveled the magwell.  The smith is Mr. Heinrickson.  He owns the "firearms" gunstore outside of Osawatomie and the guy is a fantastic machinist and engraver.

Our KDSC shoots are on his property, so if you come down for a shoot and have any smithing  to be done, stop in and talk to Joe.

My friend and member Robert_Mcleod has done the action job and all the final tuning and fitting of the parts.  Only thing lacking is fitting the beaver tail completely and refinishing.  So if you need any 1911 work done in the future give Robert a holler.  He'll also be training under Larry Vickers later this year in a class He and DVC Training will be hosting.

That looks very nice. Did you spend as much on the project as you would have spent on a factory custom pistol?

Well, with Joe doing the machine work for a very reasonalble cost and the good deals I've gotten on the parts.  I'm still way under the cost of a semi custom Springfield.

Cool, I wasn't trying to get a dig in there BTW. I have heard that it's really easy to surpass what a factory custom gun would cost unless you did alot of your own work.

Although I'm sure Rico works for beer and pizza sometimes.

WOW!!

Dude you know me and pistols. I still have yet to really even understand them enough to really feel confident shooting them, but DAMN!
Firstly, The bluing looks infinitely superior to the park.
The rear and front sights are beautiful!
The ejection port enlargement is really nice too!
Is that a lightened trigger?

WOW!!

All I gotta say is ...when do I get to shoot it?!

Thanks man!   Actually its still park'd...  The finish has really smoothed out since I first  bought it and I think the lighting is alot different in the newer pictures.

We'll put some rounds down range soon!
