Sold one of my rifles today, and need to ship to RI.  This is the first time I have shipped a firearm so I called my FFL to ask about it.  They told me to just package it up, and send it to the buyers FFL.   But when I talked to the FFL in Rhode Island they told me that UPS makes you ship the bolt seperatly.
Is there different laws here in Kansas, or is that a nation wide UPS policy?

Im leaning towards shipping them seperate regardless just to be safe, but wanted to ask someone here that has shipped firearms.

Thanks

I've shipped and received rifles via ups.  And they all came and went with the bolts in the box with the rifle.

Never heard of such a policy.

Yeah, he sound like he may have been dealing with a UPS store vs directly with UPS. UPS stores are a seperate private company that is gun fearing and freaky.

I've shipped several guns over the past couple years and never had any problems with UPS. NEVER SEND ANYTHING CLOSELY RESEMBLING A GUN VIA DHL! I found out the hard way and Ive never seen what was in that box again.
