I'll be traveling into Kansas later this month and need to know how I can carry my pistol both in and out of my car... Can anyone help?

Ya can't. Ok, well it's legal to open carry in KS, but I have NEVER seen anyone do it and if you are in any type of city you will get the cops called on you by some sheeple.  KS doesn't acknowledge any other states CCW, so no carrying concealed at least legally.  As far as in the car it is supposed to be locked in a container maybe in the trunk(I cant remember) with the ammo separate from the gun.

In other words, KS sucks really bad.

ETA: If you choose your personal safety over the law, it's only a misdemeanor if you get caught.

Kansas is an "open carry" state, however, local municipalities can ban open carry so you probably won't know when you're legal and when you are not.  Fortunately, the Kansas Legislature passed an NRA-sponsored bill during the 2005 session that preempts municpalities from regluating any other aspect of firearms other than carry & discharge- you may now carry a "cased & unloaded" firearm anywhere in Kansas in your vehicle.  Jurisdictions are permitted to have less-restrictive laws, i.e. open carry, guns in racks, plain view, etc., but are prohibited from being any more restrictive than that.  Bottom line- put the gun in a zippered case with the magazine outside the case and you are legal anywhere in the state,

I'm a retired KCK DEt. and the 2005 statues are that you can carry a fir4earm in your trunk, i.e. not in access to the driver.. not loaded and the ammo sep.  as you may know KCK and K.CMo are two cities in two states but joined togeather we've had to date 139 homocides combined.. and being two separate statesyou can immagine the mess..the governer says she supports retired right to carry.. and finaly we can go to the state accademy. and get certified..

Governor Syphilis is a typical hysterical soccer mom and hates firearms of any kind.  We need any decent alternative candidate to run against her, but no one has stepped up to the plate.

You might want to check the statutes, this law went into effect this summer.  No longer must be stored in the trunk- "cased & unloaded" is all it takes.

Exactly.
It's not so much KC that screws it up. It's the damn governor.
