| Boy I'm not sure what speed the winds hit last night but power is out right now from northern light blvd. to at least Peters Creek. |
Yeah It was pretty interesting driving home from eagle river, only a handful of places were lit up. Stuff blowing everywhere and trees down. Shingles from my porch overhang were all over the yard. I was in my house for about 2 minutes and power went out. Still out. it gave me an excuse to go to bed at a descent hour at least. But kinda hard to sleep with stuff constantly knocking around outside and huge patches of shingles being lifted up and slamming back onto the roof.

I live in Anchor Park and the power only came back on in the last hour or so. Power went out around 2230. I have lived here all my life and cannot remember a time when the power was out for more than 8 hours. Pretty much escaped unscather with the exception of the big old cottenwood in the back yard. It took a beating for sure. Was pretty cool to see neighboors checking on on one another last night. Good to know that we're watching out for one another.
Edit: Just learned that there was a 131mph gust at Glen Alps last night. |

No power at my house in Chugiak , my father in law Is guarding the house and said most stuff in my freezer will be lost. 92 and sunny in Salem Oregon today .. Vacation rocks I was out cutting fallen trees near Beach Lake and you can see the linemen working out that way. Hopefully you have power at your house soon.. |

Woke me up at 2 am, it was so noisy. Power was back up by 6:30am. Came to work and everyone was late (except me of course). The servers were knocked down by the blackout so I couldn't actually do anything until 10 a.m. There were a lot of trees, even short small ones were knocked down at their roots. I guess during the winter when wind storms usually happen their root systems are all frozen so it makes them sturdier. |

No power and no internet as of leaving home at 0500. I have decided to get a chain saw as my next splurge, I dont own one and feel like the useless neighbor not having one(though I did redeem my self by loaning out 2 kerosene lamps and a quart of kerosene). Safeway was pretty funny last night, about 15 people watching 3 power outlets, so they could facebook...
I got to see a food stamper bitch about how her icecream was going bad(as she was buying more , ) because of no power, and she couldn't stand not having cable or power. It was making her kids unmanageable... (my neighbors who barrowed the lamps played monopoly.... Knowing that their kid got some family bonding time and will be less likely to be a screwup is well worth the kerosene)

Comms stayed up here.
Batteries are 90% + charged. Wind never really got bad down here, around 25 knots, maybe a few gust to 40. A few commuter flights out of Anchorage got the piss scared right out of 'em. At least one each ERA and Grant airplane returned back to ANC in tears. |

Quoted: Quoted: The Fire Island wind farm went online on 8/30. I wonder if it was damaged. Was not turning when I flew over yesterday Dumped all that money into it and then it was wrecked it almost as soon as they started it, by the very resource they were trying to exploit. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think? Edited: it's shut down but not damaged |
