I just stopped by and had a talk with the owner of 907 Surplus (formerly Drop Zone). It looks like he is working on going the right direction with the place. They were busy reorganizing and cleaning up their inventory, putting price tags (at reasonable prices) on all the stuff, making more room to walk, etc. He is in the last stages of getting set up with a merchant services company so he can accept credit cards. The whole tone of the shop is lighter and more friendly. He is making an effort to ensure that all customers get the same prices, and there are no longer items on display that they will sell only to military. Also making sure that all customers feel welcome, military or not. We talked about his plans for improving the shop and inventory. I think it will be good. I think that within a few weeks it will look like a totally different place.

Went in a handfull of times. Bought an MRE to try it out. Pretty bad when my dogs won't eat some of the stuff in the thing. Was bullshitting about guns when i needed my free float tube taken off. Said he could do it and fucked it up real nice. Apparently the real way to remove a free float tube is wrap it in a T-Shirt and use vice grips. . Went home and bought the correct stuff that night. I don't know if he has any parts like barrels. I think he is planning to concentrate on surplus and weapon accessories. He does not want to get into selling or working on firearms, since that market is really covered here anyway. Viper, I remember that FF tube. He wrecked the barrel nut too, trying to drive it off with a punch. If I remember right, the barrel nut was a loss and the tube had some vicious teeth marks from the channel locks. That was the previous owner, though. I say we give the new owner a chance to prove himself on his own, without hanging someone else's mistakes over his head.

Quoted: I could live happily off MREs ![]() I used to live off them happily. I laughed at the old-timers who brought pogey bait to the field and tried not to eat the MREs. This worked out good for me because I am skinny with a high metabolism and require twice the food. They threw their MREs to me, and I got enough to eat. Then one day I understood. It was kind of like this: "I'm not gonna eat an MRE! Hey private, want this MRE?" "Corned beef hash! Thanks, sergeant!" "Hey specialist! You can have my MRE, I don't want it." "Thanks, sergeant!" "Here Corporal!" "Thanks, sergeant!" "Sergeant, you want my MRE?" "Thanks Top! Uh, vegetarian? What? What happened to corned beef hash?!" "Sergeant, here's your MRE." "Thanks, just toss it in the back of the HMMWV. I'll eat when we get back to the FOB." It seems that when you eat enough, you just hit the wall one day and your body says
